One bad mistake. The goal to English just before half time, only occurred  because, first, Petty was blocked, and then Gawn was . Quite obviously really!

Those 'blocks' were very obvious yet not picked up by the snot goblins in the contest. Was it a case of score-evening by the umpires? (Yet again.)

Courtesy of Stephen Anderson off FB... the bias against the Demons continues.  Razor or no Razor.  T-Mac shirt fronted no eyes for the ball no free...

Then May ... inflicts a perfect spoil.  Zero chopping zero holding and be unlucky to get called in basketball but wait... somehow it was "Arm interference".  There is vision of this if you scroll down in the comments section of the linked video above

What about Cordy mouthing off at him after obviously getting him high.

Fritsch just went back, curled the goal around, and got on with it.

That should have been 50m, just get back and stand on the mark you muppet.

Good to see Weid come in to help him, but how about Razor just telling Weid to walk away and saying nothing about the bloke who kept bumping someone while he was trying to get up.

Exactly. Interference with a possible injured player is reportable and the ump should have been in his face getting him away from fritta.

yeah i saw that too. my first instinct is i wanted weid to be a bit stronger. it made me miss viney tbh. one of these days, and it may well be against the lions, a side is going to try physically intimidate us ..and i don’t mean at or around the ball. weid, jackson, tmac, lever are all wonderful players but they wouldn’t strike physical fear into a mouse.

Tbh I loved what Weid did, blocked him, told him to [censored] off but did it without any chance of a reversal being paid. Viney probably clobbers him and Razor reverses the free.

So if you watched the Sunday Footy Show there was a 2 minute snippet of how the Demons go from attack to defence so well which confused and mucked the Doggies on Friday night.

Every other match was covered with a full review & highlights package, including votes , except ours.

This included extensive coverage of what was, apparently, the greatest win in recent history by Essendrug over the Eagles with player interview and similar coverage of the Cats win over the Pies with Issac Smith interviewed.

Apparently our win/top of the table block buster match was an aberration that only warranted a 2 minute analysis from Browny at the start.

This conspiracy theory is getting tiresome. And as for Razor Ray, if anything, he has treated us very well over the past couple of seasons.

Yep - and I watched it all to see them cover the dees. Waste of a couple of hours - could have watched the game again

You think there's a bias against us?  Every team has supporters that like to think that.

There's an old saying that given a choice between a conspiracy and a stuff-up, always go for the stuff-up (umpiring error in this particular case).

Or, as Hanlon's Razor would have it, "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity".

This notion of the umpires or the AFL being biased against us is as nonsensical as the supposed curse afflicting us and is a symptom of a pathetic, self-pitying victim mentality.

We are better than that, as evidenced by Goodwin's refusal to blame the umpiring at the end of the Crows game.

And the stats would say that we do ok relative to other clubs (this was at Round 8)...

You are both watching different games to me then  fellas.  There's alot of hate out there for the Demons and it ripples through the AFL community like a cancer.

If you want to hide under a blanket that's your choice.  Last week's two non-decisions toward the end effectively cost us the match.  But let's pretend it never happened.  All will be well if we just close our eyes and pray!

In which case, as we have a differential of +15, Richmond must be absolutely despised, with a differential of -50!

Genuinely curious... I just assumed there was apathy...

What's the hate about Rusty?

How is it evidenced throughout the AFL community?

Maybe so, but the point I was making is that the umpires stuffed up and it's not a symptom of some giant conspiracy or bias against MFC.  Stop being a sook.

Just one example EO.  That's not apathy that's a deliberate decision by the producers/those running the show.

The last one wasn't a stuff up...the umpire in question admitted the free kick was there and he decided not to pay it.

A link to the quote from said umpire would be nice... are you sure he wasn’t saying that upon watching a replay of the incident, that the free probably was there?

Isn’t that based just on the one criterion though?

It’s funny you say that. I’m positive a read a poster (can’t remember who it was) but before the Adelaide game they wouldnt be surprised if Adelaide won, if it meant that we’d beat the bulldogs the week after, or something along those lines. I thought at the time, yeah I’d have to agree. Who was that?

It might have been me who wrote that.

I said I’d take a loss to Adelaide if it meant we’d beat the Dogs. I certainly didn’t expect to lose to Adelaide though.

The conspiracy theory argument is your concoction DS.

I'm just saying the hate/loathing is there and there's alot if it about.  That it manifests in various forms, including bias by some umpires, commentators (eg BT) etc along the way

No one other than yourself is claiming it's a conspiracy where everyone is in on the act.

Example of your OOT accusation...I did not say the whole of Chanel 9... i referred to one football show.

The Friday night match rarely gets much of a mention. No matter who played in it. I guess they figure it's had a whole day of coverage already

That's the easiest way to diffuse a dust-up these days. "You blokes are all in the protected zone. Who wants the 50 metres ?"

He swapped a high 5 with Gus in 2018! after NOT paying a clear deliberate out of bounds by Gus. In front of members stand too.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

The Gold Coast Suns find themselves outside of the top eight for the first time since Round 1 with pressure is mounting on the entire organisation. Their coach Damien Hardwick expressed his frustration at his team’s condition last week by making a middle-finger gesture on television that earned him a fine for his troubles. He showed his desperation by claiming that Fox should pick up the tab.  There’s little doubt the Suns have shown improvement in 2025, and their position on the ladder is influenced to some extent by having played fewer games than their rivals for a playoff role at the end of the season, courtesy of the disruption caused by Cyclone Alfred in March.  However, they are following the same trajectory that hindered the club in past years whenever they appeared to be nearing their potential. As a consequence, that Hardwick gesture should be considered as more than a mere behavioral lapse. It’s a distress signal that does not bode well for the Queenslanders. While the Suns are eager to remain in contention with the top eight, Melbourne faces its own crisis, which is similarly deep-seated but in a much different way. After recovering from a disappointing start to the season and nearing a return to respectability among its peer clubs, the Demons have experienced a decline in status, driven by the fact that while their form has been reasonable (see their performance against the ladder leader in the Kings Birthday match), their conversion in front of goal is poor enough to rank last in the competition. Furthermore, their opponents find them exceptionally easy to score against. As a result, they have effectively eliminated themselves from the finals race and are again positioned to finish in the bottom half of the ladder.

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
