SA in lockdown for 7 days.

You'd imagine Port V Collingwood will be played behind closed doors unless they can move it to the "savior" of football.

In non-outbreak settings the recommendation for duration between AZ is still 12 weeks, as it provides the highest efficacy in the long-term.

The four-week interval is only being encouraged in Sydney hotspots right now.

Do you know if there’s any middle ground? As in, six, eight or 10 weeks.
NVM ima call my GP. ?

I shouldn’t expect someone else to do my bidding for me. ?

The biggest concern for the AFL is the woman in Queensland who brought it in from Victoria. If they get an outbreak and go into lockdown the season will have to pause. We are running out of states.

I wonder if the AFL is thinking of moving to hubs? And I wonder what that means for players who are in with no chance of finals. Would they go away for a month leave families again? Could be ugly.

Hasn't rugby league just gone into hubs with families? Yes they have, families must quarantine for 2 weeks before entering bubble

Might be a smart move to do it now whilst there's no quarantine in some areas....or some loopholes (NNSW)

They should hub the rest of the season in Victoria. Majority of teams are here, most afl standard venues. SA and WA close borders at the drop of a hat. NSW is cooked. Qld will induce PTSD.

I know we are isolated in WA but can’t see us escaping this one for much longer, but who knows.

Surely the hubs are being discussed and/or the pre finals bye is under serious review

Hearing rumours that this week may become a bye-round for all teams.

Makes sense.

I don't think a bye for all teams makes sense. Things could still get worse, meaning it may become even harder to schedule games. The AFL should play whatever games they can this week, even if it is not a complete round. For example, surely there's no reason why Victorian teams due to play each other, whether this week or in rounds 20-23 could not play this weekend.

This seems to be the AFL's position.

Don't have a bye if the games can go ahead. If Port-Collingwood and Adelaide-Hawthorn can proceed in Melbourne, then they should proceed.

Save the bye for a week where it's impossible, rather than just difficult

The problem is that the harder it gets, the more unfair the solutions become. Having Fremantle host Carlton at the MCG is unfair. Ditto Port hosting Collingwood. Both are instances of one side getting two home games in one season against a particular opponent, with Carlton already having hosted Fremantle in Melbourne and Collingwood the same with Port.

The AFL will say who cares, just play, but it's becoming harder and harder to justify that.

No food or drink on sale inside grounds

Does this mean I can bring in a turkish gozleme to eat and a six pack of Moondog Mack Daddy's to help wash it down?

It will be a small miracle if this Season is completed

This virus ? is just getting started

and old Gladbag in Sydney refused to take it seriously ?

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
