Another incredibly well done analytical article by the ABC, well worth the readย

I thought the same when I read it this morning.ย  I don't know the authors but at last sports writers who actually analyse data and present meaningful information that provide great insights.ย  Their tables and graphs are multi-dimensional and worth taking time over.ย

The first graph 'On the Right Tracc' shows how good his 2021 season.ย  Best season in nearly every measure.ย

Mainstream sports commentators/writers can learn a lot from these authors.

Talking of which would someone like to send this to Cornes!ย  I doubt he will ever stop making platitudinal and banal football comments but he could learn a thing or two about making useful contributions to a discussion.

I'd recommend reading any of the articles written this year by those 2 authors on the ABC, they have been doing an amazing jobย

Howโ€™s that for praise?!

Iโ€™d never considered the aspect of player salaries inflating over time meaning that, relative to the TPP and average player salaries, the salary of players who sign long term deals actually shrinks as time goes on. If player salaries continue to grow in the way they have historically, it could be like the Lynch situation where itโ€™s not that high a % by the end of the deal.

I wonder if the club has structured the contract to be as front-loaded as it afford?ย If I was Petracca Iโ€™d want that - access to more money earlier means I can start investing earlier and can build my wealth quicker. Obviously the club would benefit too with reducing salary cap pressure as the years go on.

Thanks for the article, aย  good read

I love a good scatter plot graph.ย

Was just missing a box and whiskers chart and I would have been in heaven!

That is exactly why they did it.ย
each year the salary cap increases, Traccs contract becomes easier to pay ?ย

I'd hope soย Nasher. Rather than reducing salary cap pressure, it's (hopefully) more a shifting of the salary cap pressure on to other players we can't afford to lose - Clarry will be looking for a significant contract in 2 years time as well as Rivers, Kossie and Jackson starting to move into the window of commanding a larger share of the pie.ย

I assume a lot of contracts would have clauses in it that contract would increase proportional to any salary cap increase?

Now he just needs to fix the massive glaring weakness in his game:

No left foot.ย

Really good article to read. ย Like alreadyย been stated, the work of those two are great in all their articles.

He's only reaching towards his peak now!

This is what helps make a champion:

"Petracca has been using his day off each week not to study or play golf or surf or even sit at home on the couch playing FIFA. No, the superstar Demon has enlisted highly rated assistant coach Adem Yze as a personal coach to get extra work in...The two are usually dressed in plain clothes and head to an oval where they can work together for more than an hour on touch and craft.

Speaking of Yze, heโ€™s fitted in seamlessly at Melbourne. Essendon was chasing him last year, but he couldnโ€™t say no to returning to his old club. He wasnโ€™t far off the Adelaide job which Matthew Nicks eventually won and judging by his lofty reputation at Hawthorn and Melbourne, his time for a senior gig might not be far away".

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
