If I had an MFC player taking a set shot for my life, I'd pick Melksham.

TMac was very sure on saturday night but he has missed a few this year.

Ben Brown's technique seems to be very effective. He split the posts with his 3 goals and was on line with his chance from outside 50 iirc but just fell short with the distance.

Tmac was 9.4 this season at set shots before his first or second goal Sat night.

Can't  have missed too many BDA Then this season.

Non-MFC: Luke Breust - beautiful action and usually very accurate

MFC: Fritsch - same reason

Ol’ twinkle toes, Josh Kennedy.

Zac Tuohy ?

I watched the VFL game vs Kangaroos and thought Weid's goal kicking technique was beautiful to watch.

The best Dees set shot I've ever seen live for the MFC has been Jack Watts.

Minimal body movement during the run up which kept the arms straight, ball drop was minimal and never tried to either drive through the ball or chip it towards goal.

Watts accuracy was 67% (161 goals , 79 behinds)

One player I think needs to work on his set shot routine is Pickett.  He just takes a few steps and looks too casual.

Of the current MFC players the one I would choose to kick a goal to win a GF it would be Brown by a mile .

T mac from a tight angle would give me nightmares as would P , O , G .

Plugger is the best I have seen .

I reckon Tom is more accurate. That boundary goal was a ripper.

Edited by leave it to deever

Peter Hudson was the best I’ve seen.

Also, the accurate set shot goal kicking players look down at the ball as the ball goes into their foot rather than looking up at the goals.

Petracca drives me nuts with his set shot routine, he seemed to have fixed it last year but he’s missed some very getable goals. I just don’t know why he has to constantly spin the ball (Gawn does it to).

Love TMac’s, simple and straight.

Darren Bennett was the best conventional goalkicking ace we have ever fielded. Bananas, check-side, dribbles and other interesting techniques aside. The next best was The Ox, then Tulip.

I am not talking about getting the ball in the first place, just the kicking techniques utilised to get the 6 points from a set shot.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
