There was only 29k at the pies game last night!!!!

That was against GWS who have legitimately 5,000 supporters nationwide if they're lucky.

Not a lot to add, but currently sitting in the MCC on my 8th pint.

Copped a spray from two attractive Geelong supporting girls as they left before the final siren.

I’ve analysed the incident and cannot imagine what bought that sort of behaviour on towards myself and my Melbourne supporting friend aside from our verbal contempt for everything Geelong today.

I feel so at ease...go Dees!!!

At first glance it looked accidental: after watching it a few times, Hawkins threw his arm back at May; that's no accident. And, Hawkins has form....

Agreed I think it probably effected him mentally for the rest of the game too once he saw what he had done to him.

Gotta give some love to Tmac.

Nine marks on a wet day.

Very nice.

Hes back with 3 great games.

agreed Deever, if he is replaced, the bloke will have to earn it.  Got none of the glory but was critical today

Couldn't watch live; still don't trust us not to lose a game like this to those bastards.

Now watching the replay with no stress!

Oh Mickey what a pity you don't understand

Yes but the pies have a membership north of 80K and ours is half that.

Come on people. We've still only beaten teams below us on the ladder so far. ?

Yes perspective perspective!

I cannot believe I just typed that however the single malt is tasting great tonight.

doesnt matter

Criteria as I understand. Accidental doesnt come in to it   3 weeks minimum

Reckless, high and injury

Its mandatory right??

Don’t think that applies for this scenario, but with the MRP who bloody knows ?

Got to be kidding

What have we got Petty for?
Deserves his chance.

True, not sold on Petty, hasn’t had a real good run at it yet, but I reckon if they deem Weid or brown ready, the. Tmac back could be the go.

Yes, replay needs to be watched before it mysteriously disappears.

Initially thought accidental, then a little doubt crept in when slow motioned.

Elbow became bent just before contact, i think.

Jack Viney....12 tackles. Great work.

Trac 36 touches even better.

Just got home.  What a crap Melb day....what a great Melb win!!  You [censored] beauty Demons.  Stuck it right up em!

Club is on track we are finally back as a decent force to be reckoned with.

Much work ahead.  BB needed up forward ASAP.  Will straighten us up and ensure we finish off the opp a lot quicker than we did today.

GO THE MIGHTY DEMONS!

2 weeks ago some muppets were calling for fritta to be dropped.

He is an elite player.

Pies have around 60K members

Just got back from the game. Great win and particularly so given I had to endure the worst Geelong [censored] I’ve ever come across sitting in front of me mouthing off for the whole game. An absolute stooge.

I’ll have to watch a replay but just a few observations that may not have been mentioned before (I haven’t read through the thread yet)

Tomlinson did a great job in the circumstances holding Hawkins to a couple of goals. That bloke is a brute but Tomlinson held his own. Our defensive structures stayed intact despite the loss of May. He’s a huge loss but we should be able to cope reasonably well in his absence I think

When Spargo tackles someone they stay tackled

Hunt is our most improved player. Defending like I’ve never seen him defend before.

Fritsch can go from the sublime to the ridiculous in the space of a minute

Viney is a bull. Best game for quite a while.

Salem was superb. Never wastes possession and had his direct opponent in his pocket for most of the afternoon. Marked every ball that came near him

We brought real intensity to the show. The type of heat that holds up in September.

Put the game to bed early in the 4th when I was genuinely apprehensive about where the game was heading.

The negative – we don’t put teams away. Conversion must improve because it’ll cost us one day soon. Hopefully the addition of BB will make a big difference here.

Go Dees

Jayden Hunt back to his best, which was all the way back in 2017, didn’t think I’d see it to be honest.

So exciting to see him dash down the middle of the g. Nobody can catch him. Boldly has a bounce with a player a metre behind him and the scoots off.

A very mature performance.  I loved the way they kept the ball in front of them in contests throughout the day.  A bit of a lapse at the start of the 3rd, but we got back to our game without too much fuss.

4-0.  Thanks!

Tackling was insane, haven’t seen that many holding the balls since the vasectomy clinic.

That Jetta BS was some [censored] BS.

Langdon ?

Love your work.

How much does the MCG suit Langdon? He was amazing the first half especially.

Hunt seems to have matured. goes on a great run but now lowers eyes and kicks well

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

  • PREGAME: Richmond

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
