Other teams, coaches, supporters alike continually state we have alot of depth at Melbourne. Let's use it.

Enough with the giving "this" bloke or "this" bloke another week or chance....we've taken enough risks in the past thinking

we can "win" with this team or this team. What happened....more embarrassing losses ie: Carlton...TWICE.

Ring in the changes.

OUT: McLean, C Johnson, M Whelan, D Ward, C Bartram, D Bell

IN: C Bizzell, R Ferguson, P Johnson, N Brown, J Rivers

Ward was one of Melbourne's best IMO.

At least he tried to create some run and move the ball forward quickly.

Bell wasn't great but still deserves his spot.

My changes ATM:

OUT: McLean (injured), Whelan (injured), Miller, Yze, Bartram

IN: Brown, Wheatley, Bizzell, Pickett, Rivers

Pickett still has a niggling injury....heard he will play for Sandringham but if available will be straight onto my IN list.

He along with Rivers would be a welcome return.

Bartram deserves his spot 2 but agree with the rest.

Sylvia, Pickett, Rivers/Bizzell, PJ 2 come in.

Out stupidity was our downfall, and we need to start tackling more ferociously again.

Pickett and Rivers are obvious inclusions

ward runs the ball, but is just to ineffective. With the biz back, he can provide creativity and set up play accounting for wards absence. Bartram as above needs a rest and needs to find more fitness, so doggy is the best option.

Players like johnson and bell still deserve thier spots for thier hard work in the pre-season and yze will probably be playing next week.

If Dunn wasn't injured he'd be replacing Miller, even though he tried when we lost he doesn't know how to make a presence in the game

let me just make a comment, as [censored] as our backline was last night....we will never... i repeat NEVERR. win a premiership with nathan brown, wheatley, bizzel, holland, and caroll in the same back line....there is no drive let alone skill there....dont be ridiculous...

I think that ringing in 6 or 7 changes is not going to do anything for team morale, as low as it must already be.

Out: McLean (inj.), Whelan (inj.), Yze, Miller

In: P Johnson, Rivers, Bizzell, Pickett

McLean and Wheels obviously will miss due to injury, or in Wheels case, a possible ridiculous suspension. Yze and Miller may as well not have been there last night, both dropped numerous marks they should have taken and generally Yze in particular looked disinterested.

Bring in Paul Johnson to play either CHF or FF, maybe push Neitz to CHF. Rivers back will help, as will the inclusions of Bizzell and Pickett. All is not lost, but if continue to handball at all costs, I am going to go nuts this season.

Good point.

My changes were probably a little over the top.

I agree with those changes.

somewhat agree with these, only thing is that with PJ and jamar in the team we will be way too top heavy.

why people are advocating bartram to be dropped i dont know, use him in a hard tag or down back on the small forward in the event that wheels doesn't play.

for me:

out mclean, wheels, yze

in, rivers, bizzell, pickett

our depth aint great currently.

No need to ring in massive changes.

Really annoys me that McLean is on the long term injury list. His injury and Whelan's could royally f$%# our season. Having said that better now than the end of the season, if you can take anything from it.

Out: McLean, Whelan, Yze

In: Rivers, Pickett, Brown

Miller will stay in because of lack of replacements, hopefully Rivers and Pickett will be right to go. Brown is a good depth player and he'll perform for us.

Obviously Yze must go, he was absolutely terrible last night.

I am thinking the same way as far as Ward goes, however, I can't agree with you wanting to drop Miller.

He was the ONLY player in the forward half outside the 50m arc leading for the ball. Sure he dropped a few marks but he did his job; which was provide a target forward of centre.

Imagine how bad it would have looked if he wasn't there!!!!

I don't think Bartram should be dropped either. His tackling pressure (3 goal saving tackles), and the fact that he had to do a job that Wheels was initally assigned to, and did it pretty well, should see him keep his spot.

I only hope that ND has let the boys playing with Sandy know that there are spots up for grabs beyond the injuries.

Go Dees - We have depth.....we should use it.

You're right, I've since re-considered my selection and after seeing the changes that dees_rule_4eva suggested I had to agree with him.

i dont think bell or bartram should be dropped.. belly had a bad game and i dont think anyone will dispute that, but the kept trying, which, when the team is losing, is about all you can ask for. Bartram worked his little heart out and that should be rewarded with at least another week in the squad.

Yze is hard, he played like crap last night, but you could still see that he was trying. Whereas Davey didn't show even a glimpse and no one's calling for him to be dropped. Dont take that the wrong way, i dont think he should be, but he needs to be given a share of the blame too.

my ins and outs would be:

Miller for Ferguson

Whelan for Rivers

McLean for Pickett

interesting ....

is there room for so much young "talent"?

Jones , Bate, Bartram, CJ, Bell i know they have to learn but these guys all did some good things last night but id prefer a handfull of players before them.

brock will be a deffinate out i guess. and wheels i have no idea.

Rivers will come in for CJ at this stage i think Daniel Belll is still better than CJ. Bell went very hard at the ball and attacked it well, but he still blazed away and gave the ball up a few times.

Pickett in for Bate.

Miller can not be dropped it was eveident he tried very hard and lead well all night.

(skill errors  )

i dont think Yze can be dropped either few dropped marks is not going to make the difference , he did go and get the ball a few times. interesting if u look at his stats i think he may have had more handballs than kicks or close too.... never heard off .... this gameplan could end his record for him.

Bizz in for wheels if necessary

it would be silly to make anymore changes as can unbalance the team too much

but u would have to consider blokes like PJ , Bizz and fergy

wouldnt mind seeing a TALL melbourne side this year one game

lets say we chuck Jamar PJ all up there with neitz and robbo and have miller and dunn up hte ground.

Holland to CHF.

Bizzell in to bolster the defence if need be, for either Whelan (inj/susp) or CJ/Bell.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
