I received an email today telling me the Demon shop is open for business as from Monday.
We are at the end of February and it has just opened for 2021.

Now I know this is not a normal year and you have been able to order on line but surely it should have been open before now.

Perhaps they don’t sell much direct from the store.

The email gives directions on how to park and the only real alternative is on the opposite side of the G in Jolimont Tce.
we really suffer from having no training / club facility.

I hope we hear news on that front on Monday.

There's a 15% discount if you go in this week SL.

For years Ive been perplexed by Melbourne Merch.  With our updated, simplified logo/rebranding a few years back I thought about time.  Whilst it is an improvement, its still reasonably ordinary with such a lack of imagination and variety.  But hang on...I take it all back now after having just jumped on.  For my prayers have been answered...meat cleavers are now available for purchase.  Ill say it again...MEAT CLEAVERS!  F.M.D

It's more difficult to slit your wrists with a clever. But perhaps that's what they had in mind.

Makes sense if we continue to butcher the ball.

There was an also an email from the club about scarf collection next week. Perhaps the Demon Shop could have been added as a place to collect the scarf along with the Jaguar retailers and MCG. Might have added some more traffic through the shop during the week.

Interested to see if many members actually visit Jaguar to go pick up their scarf. Just don’t fall for the come back home with a Jag and no scarf trick.

Few years back I was chatting with the (at the time) graphic designer at the club and she mentioned that their hands are a bit tied with merch as they tend to find the 'uglier' stuff just sells better. There's also some restrictions from AFL licensing and apparel manufacturers, but yeah apparently the uglier the better.

Probably accounts for why I have so little LN.

Can't argue with that. Not surprised to hear about AFL licensing and apparel manufacturers restricting stuff.  Those AFL licensed stores an absolute bowl of [censored].

Having a few beers with a Collingwood mate who’s an interstate member like I am, the dirty rotten pies give them a new Polo + hat with his membership, I said we get a bumper sticker and a card, he was gobsmacked and remarked “they always let you down don’t they”

Is there anything more MFC than making you go to an expensive car dealership to collect your scarf? :p

speaking with local ports retailers & "THE AFL STORE" staff for some reason MFC are the worst club to deal with in regards to merch stock.they want all the retailers to buy the merch line in bulk but at retail prices.

Have had multiple conversations at different locations asking where the "dee's" merch is and always the same result.

"they're the only club that wont supply us with the shirts/merch at wholesale prices for us to be able to on sell them at a small retail mark up".

demon shop itself have been hit and miss over the years.

Yeah, Pies are in a bit of a different financial position to us though. I might be on my own, but I've never really cared about getting some token free stuff with my membership. The badges for the years of membership are probably the only one I'm really in to. I've always found the kids packs great from MFC, but don't really know how they compare to other clubs.

I'd be telling your mate he shouldn't be throwing shade at other clubs given Collingwood's last few months though...

How much is his membership compared to yours?

Wool flashback scarf $65

AFLW 2020  Media Polo $69.99

Mens 2020 Media Polo $90

AFLW 2020 Woman’s crew jumper $74.99

Men’s 2020 Men’s training tee $85

These are just some of the items i looked at which I think are overpriced. I bought a training top for around $70 a few years ago, nice top but wasn’t worth $70 then and definitely isn’t worth $85 now. I prefer the old VFL logo and the club rarely sells any merchandise with it these days, found a scarf and they want $65. I’ve bought most of my apparel in recent years either online from other stores.

This is poor form considering most of us kept our membership even though we couldn’t attend a game to help the club out. I understand the club is a business, but if you lowered the prices by a quarter or a third would you not increase your sales improving the bottom line.

I earn good money but a lot of families couldn’t afford to pay these prices, maybe the club thinks these prices are acceptable due to all the recent success we’ve had.

....he can't be trusted then:

Collingwood interstate membership ( from their website) includes the following add ons :

Exclusive 2021 Lanyard
Personalised Membership Card
Bumper Sticket Set
Years of Service Pin & AFL Patch
AFL Scarf

("sticket" is straight from their site, which only proves their spelling capabilities)

i.e. NO hat or Polo.  They have to buy that separately...same as us!

I don’t but as for the “scarf is ok wearers”, the amount of times I’ve sat in the Redlegs and as the goals pile on against us and another loss is inevitable they (the men) take off their scarfs, fold them up and give them to their wife’s to put into their handbags. The stairwell behind the level 2 members area is another popular spot for this behaviour.

Sadly I am way over 30 ET but I agree. I have bought things likes pullovers with a small MFC emblem on the chest. On my last visit to the store ( 3 years ago ) I asked why nothing was available. The very nice man told they don't sell. Only large garish stuff sells. Says something about our society I guess.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
