This poster has claimed that he is a list management expert who can see things that others cannot see.  I am simply calling him on his claim.

Who cares lol... We all have different opinions but apparently that is bad to you. Calling someone out is trolling btw.

Yeah I rate Joel Smith. I don't understand people's criticism of him.

And yeah correction. Mitch Brown (delisted).

Great athlete, average (at best) footballer.

Pretty simple really...

No it's not, it's holding them to account for their baseless posting.

keeping in mind list sizes shrink again this year too

had this thread bookmarked all season and it's taken a couple weeks longer to bump than i anticipated but gee whiz it was a bloody amazing couple weeks. personally i didn't see the ANB resurrection, got that very wrong and JSmith resigning at all let alone as early as he did completely caught me out particularly after the MSD recruitment of cousin Daniel but otherwise i don't think im too far off, guess time will tell. but this is certainly some fun reading ahahaha gg's everyone

I reckon Chandler is worth another year.  we need back small fwds. dount we'll ever have a better year on the injury front

Good to see Hibbo has signed on for another year too

A review of this thread made some entertaining reading. I'm not critical of anyone who posted what they thought. At least they were prepared to present their opinions for all to see. Some suggestions were spot on and others look a bit, well, surprising now we've had the benefit of seeing them play (or not) in 2021.

6 list spots to fill. Probably save one for the mid season draft given local and Junior footy will likely resume.

If  Melksham wants a trade that is 7 spots.

Its unlikely we will have the same run with injuries and form so we will need to retain some depth.

Ok, I'm here :)

Nathan Jones (Ret): I think this is almost a guarantee.
Toby Bedford (Delisted): He's had his time to earn a spot and hasn't taken it.
T.McDonald (Delist or trade): Going by how hard we tried to trade him I think he will be gone. Needs to kick 35-40 goals to keep his spot on the list.
J.Jordan (Delist): Too slow.
S.Goodwin: Sacked before round 8.
N.Jetta (trade): Trade for a late pick.
A.Bradtke (Delist)
Baker: Staying on. We're one of the slowest teams in the comp. You don't trade your quickest players when you're as slow as us. Neale-Bullen (traded to a SA team)
Neitschke (Delist and rookied)

Count yourselves lucky
Hore, Hibberd, Vandenberg, Neal-Bullen to stay on for one more.

question for Demonland posters...

- With JJ extension for 2 years does that move him to primary list automatically?

- did Hibbo sign?

- unsigned is Bedford, Hibbo, Hore, baker, Daw, Smith(D), Chandler, Declase and Turner.  Correct?

Quick note for Demonlanders. There's a huge difference between resigned and re-signed. Your keyboards have hyphens for a reason. Please use them appropriately over the next few weeks and save the rest of us from having palpitations.

I'm not sure what it says about my mindset but all I saw when looking at that crab photo was a Premiership Cup.

Hibbo signed a one year deal. Heard about it on Friday or Sat. Haven’t seen written confirmation yet

Jordon was drafted so should be in the primary list already I think

hibbo signed on

he was rookied last year to help with list sizes under the one off rule that has now been revised

That was also my intention... Great pic up

6 changes for me.

retirement. Jones. Jetta

delisted.  Vdberg.  Lockhart.  Nietschke (r) Bradtke (cat b)

Melksham   Like him to stay but understand why we is chasing opportunities and perhaps a longer contract

Bring in youngsters like Andrew, Banks, Rayson, Woewodin , Reyson, Moniz-Wakefield.

Still think we've got one or two more spots to clear.

Think it will come down to if we can find a trade for Melksham or another senior player wants out? Factoring in the elevation from the start of the year from Jordon from the rookie to the senior list and if Chandler is extended, he'll also need to be elevated. That means we need to clear one more senior spot to have 3 picks at the draft. If we can't trade Melksham it puts Hore firmly in the gun it seems.

Then it just depends how many of Deakyn Smith, Turner and Declase we want to keep. We can keep them all and then still have a rookie list spot available.

A lot can happen over a season. Who would have guessed the progression of JJ and Sparrow? Vanders place in the squad changed based on this and other factors. Still played many good games and always gave 100%

Wouldn't Turner and Declase be on contract? Surely we can't draft someone during season 2020 and then delist them at season's end.

We can, but they get a guarantee 60K or something like that which comes out of the cap.

We Gawn and Jacko who are stars in the ruck and Daw as back up. We will likely pick up a young ruck in the draft if one is available.

Clubs tend to emulate the Premiers. After seeing Gawn rip the Prelim apart and Jacko play a cracker 3rd Q  (good all game) in the GF rucks will likely be picked up earlier than they usually would be.

chandler doesn't have to be upgraded, new afl rule for this season due to lack of second tier comp and ability to develop players can spend a 4th season as a rookie

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.
