We had one:ย  'Esprit de Corps' in 2018, borrowed from Norm Smith:ย  "We have this spirit at Melbourne.ย  It embraces loyalty to the team, to the coach and to teammates.ย  It is the spirit essential for success".ย

We seem to have lost sight of it since then.ย  Don't hear it referred to anymore.ย

Good discussion of it here:

Most players have loyalty to their manager and the mighty $.

High performing organisations may have creeds, mission statements, and any number of motherhood statements.ย

However they are not top organisations because of such statements.ย

They are organisations that have appointed talented people and developed that talent. They recruit people that can grow into leaders of the organisation. As a result, they attract the best because everyone wants to be part of the organisation. Itโ€™s history and culture of success becomes a way of being and individuallyย and collectively people are driven to work hard and perform at a high level. ย People are ingrained with this philosophy and way of working. Working as a team is a natural organic thing. Thereย is innate talent/skills and thisย talentย is nurtured and developed. Thereย is mutual respect between team members and these individuals assist one another to achieve their goals.ย

Norm Smith Esprit de Corps as commented on by Lucifer is an effective explanation of success. Itโ€™s as good as anything.ย

Slogans will always be used in organisations but it comes about as a result of the people you hire, train, coach,ย and, the people you place in leadership positions. Then success becomes innate to the organisation and follows almost naturally.ย

Well Richmond where no power house when Branden Gale made Richmond's mission statement

I do not think honestly, therefore I am.

Isn't a Creed something you live by, not just footy?

I was thinking that we need a demons supporter pledge.

I pledge neverย  to get negative thoughts when the demons are 38 points up.

I pledge never to scream at the demonsย  on the TV when their losing.

I pledge never to say I knew it, when we lose after being up by 7 goals +

I pledgeย  never to abuse a player, when they turnover a 20 Meter kick under no pressure.

I pledge never to throw the TV remote , or my phoneย  on the ground when the demons lose to the Saints again.

I pledge never to yell sack the coach after a lose.

I pledge never to be upset about any win against any team by any margin.

I pledgeย  always to love the demons, whether we win lose or draw.

You must agree to all these pledges, if you want to follow the demons.ย

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking. ย We filled our boots with percentage โ€” now a whopping 520.7% โ€” and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourneโ€™s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
