Updates for delisting of Hore and Declase and Hibberd one year contract.

We have no more players OOC.

image.png.a5e792a64495e2a7213d8c2ac347fa48.png

A few points:

  • I've corrected the Allowed A Rookie numbers to be: 1 - 6.
  • Jordon has been shown as a senior all year so I left him there for the sake of consistency.  He is contracted until 2023 so a late pick will be used (94 or 112) to make that official.
  • Chandler has been assumed to be an A rookie, pending further clarification.  If he is promoted to the senior list a late pick will be used to make it official (94 or 112).
  • In summary, we have 38 senior and A rookie players giving us 4 overall list spots.  Based on Jordon/Chandler assumptions herein that is 3-4 senior spots and 0 -1 A rookie spots.  (Plus two 'B rookie spots).

The classification of A Rookie vs Senior is a bit academic regarding list numbers and eligibility to play.  The benefit is that being a rookie helps manage the sal cap as a portion (I think the first $80,000) isn't include so their is an incentive to max the rookies.

As @Turnercorrectly noted if Andy Moniz-Wakefield gets thru the draft we can take him as a 'B' rookie.

Some forthcoming dates may clarify our list intentions:  List Lodgements, NGA and F/S nominations.  Refer to this thread:

.

Re our draft picks:  Collingwood and Bulldogs currently have 10 draft picks between our 37 and 57 and will use them for their respective F/S, and/or trade/consolidate them.  This means our picks 49 and 57 will come in a long way.  My current estimate is that 49 will be in the low 40's and 57 will be high 40's.  I won't make it too exact as it will change with more pick trades.

The next update will be after the Draft, unless their are significant changes to our draft position.

Thanks.  I will update Sam's AF status next time.

As I understand it Dunstan won't qualify as an FA as the 8 years needs to be continuous at one club.  Happy to hear if that understanding is incorrect.

He will be a Unrestricted Free Agent as he is a player who has previously qualified as a free agent (this season)

From the AFL website

Unrestricted free agents are players who are in the bottom 75 per cent of salaries at the clubs in their free agency year, or a player who has served 10 or more years at his club. Players who have previously qualified as a free agent - such as Port Adelaide's Tom Rockliff - or players who have previously been delisted - such as Brisbane's Jarryd Lyons and Melbourne's James Jordan - also qualify in this bracket. Clubs do not have the option of matching offers for unrestricted free agents.

Restricted free agents are players who fall in the top 25 per cent best paid players at their respective clubs and come out of contract after their eighth or ninth season at the club, with their owner clubs able to match rival bids for them under free agency rules. For instance, Jeremy Cameron was a restricted free agent at Greater Western Sydney last year, which allowed the Giants to match a bid for him and force Geelong into a trade.

Is James Jordon a free agent already?

Yes.  Last year clubs were allowed to move senior list players to the rookie list without the player having to go thru the draft.  The AFL treated these moves as delistings.  Thereafter the player is an RFA every time they are OOC.

Kade Chandler's "season review" article confirms what most of us expected - he got a 2 year contract.

Doesn't explicitly state that he will move to the main list, but I'd imagine he has to.  Pretty sure the maximum time as a rookie is 4 years, and this will take him through to year 5 on the list.

Strange news regarding Marty Hore.

We will watch him star elsewhere I guess.

Since when has he starred for us?

Prob best game when we beat GCoast  by a pt. And Marty kicked the last goal to tie the scores. But he didn't have a regular spot and Daniel Turner at 19 and taller and a key position prospect has virtually taken Marty's  spot on the list,

Thst is a sensible decision as Marty was an interceptor only IMO and really couldn't handle key position players for size and was not nimble enough for the clever smalls. Good luck to him reckon he will end up on a VFL list in 2022.

Dont recall saying he did but I think he will given the opportunity. But i do think he was very good in the limited games he played. I trust the clubs judgement but I he was more than just an interceptor. Your wish of good luck followed by your assumption he will finish in the vfl sounds rather disengenious to a young kid battling bad injuries.

Best of lucky Marty. Tx for your efforts.

It has now been confirmed that Jordon will officially be made a senior player. rookies-set-to-be-upgraded-to-the-primary-list

He will count as one of the three minimum draft picks to be taken and we will use our last pick, probably pick 94.

Chandler has not been upgraded so will remain a rookie for 2022.  During or at the end of next year he will be placed on the senior list.

In that respect I will leave the chart as is.  I will show Petty's contract extension from 2022 to 2025 with the next chart update.

So I'm guessing that means we have 2 live picks in the draft?

After using pick 94 for Jordon, we have 33 senior (+5 A rookie) players ie 4 list spots enough to use our other 4 live picks if we want.

Its been reported/guessed that we will take use two or three live picks in the draft which will leave 1 or 2 list spots left for post draft additions.

Thanks.

So we currently have picks 17, 37, 49, 57 and 94.

I would predict that we will use 17, 37 at the draft with 57 being more than enough to match for Taj. That leaves one list spot for a SSP addition.

We should be able to leverage something out of pick 49, which should come into the low 40's by the time all the pies and Bulldogs picks get absorbed in their f/s selections.

That will be pretty valuable to a few clubs, including those that need more points for NGAs and f/s or maybe just want another selection all together. StKilda, GWS as well as Pies and Dogs are just a few clubs that might be interested in it.

I'm not sure it will be enough to seriously upgrade pick 17 but we could perhaps get an upgrade to 37 or perhaps a future pick or two for next year.

Update for the Petty and Fritsch contract extensions.

image.png.61adbaee8767f684334e075b3fe0c272.png

The Petty extension is until 2025 when he will be an RFA.  At the end of Fritsch's contract in 2026 he will be an FA.

No change to our list or draft position since the last update.

This has been an amazingly small list turnover, almost all 'forced' changes:  Jones and Jetta retired, Vandenberg going on to a new career, Nietschke had a long term injury, Bradtke (I think) had no more years left as a rookie.  So only true delisting were one from the senior list (Hore) and two from the rookie list (Lockhart and Declase).

A very stable list, one which just won a Premiership!
