Speaking of BigFooty, the talk there was that Lachie Hunter had a 4 week ‘2nd strike’ rest early in the year.

Think there’s definitely a bit of a party culture out west, but good luck to them

Apologies for getting sucked in by the usual trolls for a minute there 'Landers.

In football goss, apparently one of the reasons Dunkley is leaving the Doggies is that a bit of a 'brat pack' is happening there and he's hating it. Seems a long way from what Bevo had going on with the team a few years ago. Wonder if that's why there's been media/rumours about him being under the pump more than any of us fans would have expected?

Josh Dunkley is as straight laced as a person can get i can think and it's pretty well known he was dissapointed with the Lachie Hunter stuff, so you may well be right that there is a group there that rubs him the wrong way a bit.

BUT

I think fundementally he's leaving because Essendon are offering him ALOT of money.

Bit of confirmation about the ANB and vB rumours here:

"Clubs have got the slows on available ball-getters who aren't considered top-tier players around the competition, with Melbourne's Aaron vandenBerg and Sydney's George Hewett the latest names to be floated in discussions.

vandenBerg knocked back interest from the Swans at the end of 2018 to sign a new three-year deal with Melbourne but after two injury-interrupted seasons the Demons are open to offers for the hardened 28-year-old.

The Dees have also been seeing if any clubs were interested in Alex Neal-Bullen, who has a year to run on his deal with Melbourne."

Ricky Nixon came out of hiding after a few days without any scoops to bring us these rippers:-

* Adam Treloar looks set to nominate Western Bulldogs talks believed he told the club he’s 100% interested in singing with the club talks Western Bulldogs have put five year deal on the table for him.

* Jack Higgins after nominating St Kilda from Richmond talks that deal will be done tomorrow.

* Jeremy Cameron talks that deal will go ahead Thursday afternoon on the last day with Geelong soon as that deal is done believed that’s when Shaun Higgins will sign straight afterwards with Geelong.

* Andrew Phillips from Essendon talks he has had a Meeting with Melbourne this afternoon about heading to the dees.

* Daniel Talia despite being strongly linked to Essendon he looks set to stay at Adelaide next year.

* Riley Knight has been delisted by Adelaide talks his management has spoken to three clubs about him talks Hawthorn North Melbourne GWS have expressed interest in him.

* Jaidyn Stephenson talks Western Bulldogs and Hawthorn have pulled out on interest of Stephenson only one club has asked about him in the last 24hrs was North Melbourne but talks he will most likely be set to stay at Collingwood after clubs don’t have huge interest in him.

* Brandon Matera ex Fremantle player has been asked by two clubs to do a medical for them talks West Coast North Melbourne have asked for him to have a chat and a medical.

* Nakia Cockatoo from Geelong likely to end up at Brisbane that deal will get done once the Cameron deal is done.

* Lachie Fogarty looks set to leave Geelong and be heading to Carlton talks they are strongly interested and asked to meet with him.

* Esava Ratugolea Is reportedly a player the Giants are demanding in return for Jeremy Cameron. Contracted until 2021 at Geelong talks GWS said they would like him as big forward in return for Cameron with two first rd picks as well.

* Neville Jetta Had his 2020 campaign cruelled by injuries and could seek a fresh start. Collingwood are understood to be trying to lure him over with the promise of a longer deal than what Melbourne are prepared to offer. Contracted until 2021 at Melbourne talks Collingwood have put on a two-three year deal on table to lure him over.

* Jack Lonie talks Western Bulldogs and Collingwood have pulled of interest around him in the last 48hrs leaves Carlton now as front runners for him to try and lure him over.

* Paddy McCartin talks going around Sydney have shown huge interest in him talk is two year deal on the table for him to play with his brother.

* Adam Treloar looks set to nominate Western Bulldogs talks believed he told the club he’s 100% interested in singing with the club talks Western Bulldogs have put five year deal on the table for him.

Gee ya reckon

Here's the thing with the Adam Treloar stuff. i understand the media is running with it's all about Money stuff. but if he was really determined to stay at the Pies, he could offer to take a pay cut. this is clearly about other things

Not sure how I'd be able to handle AVB in another jumper.......

With Preuss and Hannan gone, a few players delisted and maybe VDB, ANB and Oscar gone, even without Tom leaving and at this stage only BB in, we should have created some cap space. If that is where it lands, I believe we will bring in another player and if Tom goes, more than one.

The reality is that you have to keep moving on the NQR players in your quest for a better team. That is why the scattergun approach doesn’t work and cherry picking and drafting well is the path to success. Getting a BB and another best 22 player this year is a mile better than getting 5 x 25-35 ranked players.

Isn't part of the issue (from AT's perspective) that he took a haircut previously so Pies could get other players in (Wells from recollection)? Now that he's due to get the increased dollars Pies are trying to get him out the door. No doubt there are some other factors at play, but without Collingwood's cap mess, I doubt AT would be getting shoved out the door.

I do not think  Treloar will end up a Dee. I would give it less than a 1 in 20 chance.

Phillips of the Filth variety is still a better than even chance. A few things need to get done to unblock the logjam.

I think tomorrow we may get the Hannan and Preuss deals put to bed.

I don't either.. If only ppl cogitated on what they read!!!

Tom Mcdonald a demon = No hope

AVB was slightly older when we recruited him too, so probably the last chance to get something of value back in the door for him. We have a few in that 26-28 bracket who have good traits, but are still short of being consistent, everyday players who are well established in the best 18.

A good list can't carry that. If they haven't nailed down a spot at that age, you may as well be developing 18-24 y/o's in those positions, as they still have a ceiling to hit and probably cost a bit less in salary.

Out west that would be the Choir of Hard Knocks wouldn't it?

Oh boy...

"Instead, it’s more likely Treloar stays at the Pies for one more year, giving his camp and rival clubs time to plan for a move this time next year. It’s not ideal, but it’s the best card in the bad hand that he has been dealt by his own club."

Treloar staring down the barrel of awkward Collingwood return

Won't happen, as I said he WILL be traded!!!

Mate, I never said he wouldn't be. I've replied to you a few times that I think he will be.

We just differ on his likely trade value.

Could we send 2x second rounders for Brown + Polec

Sounds like North would like 2 second rounders for Brown. 33 and 50 seems pretty fair.

I don’t think you’d really have to worry, he’s a 5 game per year prospect at best. He’s lucky to get 10 touches a game

Why? The Pies lured him with a contract offer. Then twice asked him to shift money into future years - second time they had to extend contract out to 2025 expiry to smooth the deferred payments for ongoing cap management purposes - because they'd stuffed their cap by offering Beams 4 years at 600K when they had not planned for that contract, and by generally handing out inflated contracts post 2018 granny.

He is not getting $900,000 to play for each of next 5 seasons because hundreds of thousands of that amount is deferred payments from previous seasons.

The Pies cap is a cluster of highest order. They need to salary cap dump a  5 year contract that includes deferred payments from previous seasons that make the contract untradeable without Pies paying 1 to 1.5 million over the 5 years for Treloar to play for another club and that'll go in the Pies salary cap each year. In most businesses staff involved would be sacked except Eddie was driving force behind Beam's return so action unlikely.

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.
