No problem from me with any of the outs.

Giving Smith another run might work but it is not the way I would have gone. Would have brought in Lockhart instead.

Harmes I will be watching closely a I think he has been playing well blow his best form and with a lack of confidence. I hope he turns it around in this game.

Good to see Omac and Wagner retain their spots.

I can’t believe O Mac stayed in

I completely forgot about Lockhart, which disappoints me.

I agree with you. IMO he was more than good enough when he was playing to get a spot back in Hibberd's absence.

Harmes named at half forward.

Could be Smith for Hibberd, Fritsch for Hannan, Harmes for vandenBerg and ANB for Pickett? In terms of keeping structure much the same?

I will go early and say I am not a fan of Smith returning. Hope he proves me wrong.

Seems a tall backline for Sydney if that's the case. All of May, Lever, OMac and Smith in the backline.

Hibb out is a real bummer.  Having a solid season and gave us some real run and fast play transition.  Hopefully just the week.  Not sure why we wouldn't bring Lockhart in for the lock down on Papley to replace him.  Smith in is just overkill (talls) for mine given Sydney's smallish forward line and makes no sense at all unless O-Mac was an omission.  O-Mac is def in SG's little black book he was a straight out for Tomlinson (moved down back to cover) and Lockhart the in for Papley.

I'm assuming Harmes is taking on AVB's role on a wing / HF and they aren't looking to swing him on to Pap.  He'll get smashed on that match up IMO.

Fritschkrieg & ANB makes sense for the two other forwards who def needed a rest and a reset.

Who takes Papley?

It has to be Harmes.  He is our best shut down player.  Even if he gets no stats of his own if he shuts down Papley he will have done his job for the team.

Why? He was part of a defensive unit that put on the best display for the season. May may not have been able to perform the way he did if OMac was not there.

I understand that but Sydney’s forward line is considerably smaller.  I do see your point though and let’s just hope it works as well again

He could kick 6 and we would still win

It would be sickening to see Papley get 6.  He celebrates each goal as if they had won the premiership.  So hope he doesn't get any.

He's a good shut down player for ball getter types, but I don't rate him as a stopper for crafty small forwards like Papley.

It just means Lever can play more of a loose man role by playing on a smaller less productive forward and it frees Tomlinson to the wing which is a must now that Vanders is out.

Well who else in the team can do better?

It wouldn't surprise me if Tomlinson is pushed up to the wing to replace Vanders, while Harmes does actually play on the half back line. I say this because the article on the dees website references Tomlinson on the wing, and also the fact that OMac hasn't been replaced when our backline looks overly tall for Sydney's forwards.

Overall I'm happy with the ins and outs but, would have preferred OMac out as well.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
