it will be interesting to see who is on the shopping list at the end of the year, both from us and for us

viney (rfa), fritsch, bennell, hibberd, hannan and o mac are the only current 22 out of contract, which is a pretty small number in the grand scheme of things

https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/out_of_contract_players

anb could help adelaide enormously with his 'buzzing' around the contest and defensive intent, you'd think someone would see some value in hunt, who knows whether preuss could command interest from someone, while petty you would think would be a pretty important signing for us given his youth and potential

I think Preuss would help out Sydney or Essendon who have no ruckman at all.

If we don't trade I see us as having 2 draft picks and 3 rookie picks. Are Spargo and the Wagner's unsigned?

So we delist Jones, Spargo, Kolodjashnij, Hunt and J.Wagner we promote Bennell, Lockhart and Bradtke. Keep Brown as a second year rookie, keep Dunkley and Chandler as 3rd year rookies delist C.Wagner. Neal-Bullen and Preuss will have to be on the trade table for us to have more draft picks, I would only trade draft picks I wouldn't trade for rejects unless someone like Bennell comes around.

We need a tall forward.  T Mac will be 28 next year and hasnt been in form since 2018.

I like Pettys potential and Weid has showed great signs the last two weeks, but even if Weid becomes a star he cant do it alone down there.

T.Mac still has a few years left. We have Weid, Petty and Jackson and Smith could also go there. I think we have enough young tall timber up forward Bradtke another one with forward potential. We can get Daniher and give away nothing because he is a free agent. How old is he?

I think we need another small forward to help out Pickett and Bedford plus we need running backs\wingman to replace the eventual retirements of Hibberd and Jetta.

would you prefer kelly, cameron, or williams out of the gw$ franchise factory?

Williams. I don't think Cameron would be a good target for us, would cost a fortune and he wouldn't be getting the delivery he gets at GWS. Plus I have faith in Weideman to develop and Jackson to be able to play that roaming CHF role.

Would love to chase Williams he's exactly what we need, but Kelly is nothing to be sneezed at. Would be great to get Kelly after the dud Tyson deal. Correct me if I'm wrong but we still have enough salary cap room to land one big fish?

fwiw i'm on the williams bandwagon too, but his body is constantly letting him down

As long as the Weid keeps performing and showing a bit, the only spot I think we need to look at is a small defender/running defender.

I agree with the above posts on Williams. If he gets his body right he’d be my only target this off season.

Hibberd has turned back the clock and been great but he’s still getting towards the end. Unfortunately and sadly my little favourite in Jetta looks to be getting there quicker.

Not sold on Lockhart yet or Tomlinson for that matter so Williams all the way for me.

Releasing Hunt, Jones, Wagners, Spargo, KK and Brown should free up enough cash and keep drafting in young talent on a lower base wage - although I doubt many of the above would be on much.

How old is he? I don't see Essendon wanting to let him go but maybe a swap for Brayshaw.

Turned 26 today. Out of contract at end of year so potentially gettable.

Just going to point out you suggested that trade haha! I've mentioned it a couple of times here. Move Salem up to Gus' role, Saad to Salem's spot. Salem's short kicking could be very handy going inside our 50 IMO. Just a thought.

Saad has become a really good player over the last two years. Most bomber supporters I know really rate him highly.

Id prefer Williams as he can play more roles at a higher level but would be very happy with Saad.

The challenge is we’d have to give up a bit to get him where as GWS are under salary cap pressures so I doubt they could match what we’d be able to offer

And Essendon are just a pain in the [censored] to deal with. They'd probably want Brayshaw plus a 2nd rounder

I'd prefer to keep Brayshaw. Don't rate Saad don't rate anyone at Essendon they have the worst list in the comp. How they have won 4 games mostly against easybeats has amazed me.

Rory Laird? Out of contract end of 2021 and althought an Adelaide boy - could be keen to get out of the joint. Turns 27 in December so potentially good for another 4-5 yrs.

Wait until next season or try to get him this year? He’s an RFA end of 2021 so personally I’d wait until then.

Really Dr G On that basis we couldn't go after any players because of our delivery!!

Cameron can mark on the lead or contested So just get him if you can pay fior him!!

Alas we need a KFP not a half back flanker!

Lockhart is going fine Rivers is a 200 gamer and some others can surely earn a place in the team in that position. Ie Jordan or Sparrow that's if we don't have spots elsewhere. We have already spent a mozza on Jake and May and now need to settle the defence fir a tilt at Finsls consistently without Hibbo and Jets in the near future. At 28 Rivers  is a steal!!

Still think Hunt has some value if he can improve his kicking accuracy.....

You would've got away with this comment in 2016, but now it's just not true. They're a 7th to 13th list on any given year, and that's the way I prefer it. Let em make a final, but never win one ? Let em never get another high draft pick (Aside from McGrath)

But back to their list, they could leak plenty of talent and help another club. McGrath, Tippa, Daniher, Smith, Saad, Francis, Merrett would all be in our 22... A decent perpetual mid range list

To be honest, our list is pretty solid and I wouldn't go chasing any of those little top up type players.

Every year it seems like we're becoming a bit more of a destination club, so let's start getting some success on the field and those bigger names will start considering us.

I like our drafting/recruiting over the last two years so I back us in to do the same this year. I'd really like another another Kozzie type, but other than that let's let our players develop.

I'd like to see Tomlinson really take the game on. I hope the dropping was a wake up call because he clearly has all the attributes (although he doesn't have much pace) to be a great player.

I'd be throwing every cent we have at Ben King.

other than that

Zac WIlliams would be a brilliant pick up and replacement for Hibberd

Rory Laird but i feel the price would be a bit high.

Zac Fisher at the Blues has pace and skill and seemingly on the outer. could be a budget pick up.

I'd be having a good look at the Giants. feel a few could drop out there

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50.
