Depending on the cost I wouldn't mind Connor Blakely on the opposite wing to Langdon. Was/is a rebounding defender at Freo but out of the side at the moment because of defensive flaws, despite that he's a good kick and has pace, both two things we could well served with.

Langdon and Blakely had a huge falling over a very personal matter. Blakely instigated the matter and that did not go down well within the Freo hierarchy. Its no coincidence that he's barely played a game since Langdon left.

Ah right, well there goes that idea!

Good ball user of half back/wing

Dunno who is available but that is what we need

Small lockdown defender to takeover Nev as well but depends how Lockhart comes along I guess

it will be interesting to see who is on the shopping list at the end of the year, both from us and for us

viney (rfa), fritsch, bennell, hibberd, hannan and o mac are the only current 22 out of contract, which is a pretty small number in the grand scheme of things

https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/out_of_contract_players

anb could help adelaide enormously with his 'buzzing' around the contest and defensive intent, you'd think someone would see some value in hunt, who knows whether preuss could command interest from someone, while petty you would think would be a pretty important signing for us given his youth and potential

Ben Brown is gettable.  kangaroos-are-shopping-ben-brown-to-other-clubs

Sounds like North will test the water and if Brown gets a package that lands them a 1st round pick (#3-#5) they will let him go.

I believe Barrett is a North supporter so he would have good mail.

I post that for info.  Not interested in going after him.

Edit:  To clarify, Brown is out of contract but not an FA,

Haha, can you imagine @Jaded if we landed Ben Brown? ?

ANB has been in and out of our side over the last 18 months and we have been pathetic. He won’t bring in any value from elsewhere. Bryce Gibbs & a Crouch brother have missed games at Adelaide and despite whatever issues they have with Gibbs, he’s a far superior player to ANB!

We don’t have enough quality on our list to attract trades that will get us high value returns.

I think Rivers covers one skilled half back role, will need another on the assumption Hibberd and Jetta are in the twighlight years.

I still think we are short on elite ball users, we need someone to balance out Langdon a little more than Tomlinson does

No to Ben Brown. He will be 28, cost too much, and while he's a decent player, he's just one of those one trick ponies I can see dropping off sharply.

I like the idea of bringing in a proven half back, and releasing Salem up the ground. I'd personally be open to trading Brayshaw, as it makes sense to trade what you have an abundance of to fill a need in another area of the ground, but I'm pretty sure the club are keen on keeping him, so it would have to be done in another way.

I see plenty of people asking for Salem to be further up the ground, I don't think he has the pace/tricks/size to offer much more than a decent kick. He isn't going to break games open, we don't need another mid-range accumulator around the ball

Could not agree more, over rated on here and  doesn't hurt the opposition enough in my humble opinion

I really think we should persevere with Hunt on the other wing if only his disposal improved. Langdon speed and willingness to take on the opposition and create space has improved our inside 50s a lot

Signing ANB to a 2 year deal last year was a very very odd decision.

I hate Norf but I’m all for improving our lost. I’ll be fine with Brown if we don’t overpay.

Forward of centre, he has the ability that not many on our side have, and that is to consistently lower his eyes and hit targets. If he is delivering the ball inside 50 more often, we are going to be a better team.

Way too early to start another thread like this without knowing what they are going to do with list sizes and salary caps next year and moving forward plus they've only just opened the ability to talk contracts again. It'll just turn into either people thinking we can go and get any player we want for cheap (Whitfield) or another bashing thread (ANB).

Can't get a game over an aging Grant Birchall.

Having said that, a fresh start might be the go for him and if he can't get a gig in the seniors then he might come at a discount price (eg. a six pack and a bag of crisps).

I see the appeal in his short kicking, but what about going back the other way? If he were manned up on Langdon or anyone elses equivalent, he would be in serious trouble.

Hannan and Fritsch would be well ahead of him for HFF positions for me.

would you prefer kelly, cameron, or williams out of the gw$ franchise factory?

Cameron followed by Williams. Kelly got his big pay day and took his foot off.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
