I know, you should stop it

Nothing of value to add to an important topic

Maybe if you grow up and show a bit of maturity, perhaps I would take your facile and juvenile input a bit more seriously

Racism is an important subject, only have your nickname coz it looks cool? ask Kossie about some of his experoences

Go march again with thousands of people in the middle of a pandemic, you irresponsible fool

I have done more for the Aboriginal community than you ever have or will

Again, puerile name calling

If there was a March tomorrow, of course I would, taking all the necessary precautions again

How do you know what I have done or not, you do make some silly statements

Adding nothing to the discussion, apart from making a lot of noise

That is really helping to resolve the issue

About to put you on block coz I am over your childish behaviour

It's a shame that people can simply deactivate an account and make a new one. Social media would be much better if peoples identities are verified and even if using an alias cannot simply create another account. There needs to be more accountability for what people post and for the social media platforms to verify every members identity.

What it needs and this is beginning to happen, is people taking legal action, against not only the individual but also the platform

This board suffers from the same malaise, posters hiding behind nicknames

I have never shied away from revealing my identify,  my nickname is just a play on Demonland, always had the Kahunas to back up my opinions and beliefs

It’s a shame that such a relevant thread is derailed once again by the same old troll. This thread, like all others, isn’t about him (as much as he thinks it is).

You should stop doing it

I am trying to discuss a serious issue, it is being derailed by the usual name callers, you know the ones

Any input on the actual topic?

You don't have to read what I put, although you seem to have the need

I've just blocked a poster, you could try doing the same, I could happily live with it

I am more concerned with the player, whose number I proudly wear, has been racially vilified again

Jeez 'Ethan' you're a proactive one in being provocative towards this bloke aren't you. I'd question whether you want to make the thread about yourself? Sure @Satyriconhome is verbose, sure @Satyriconhome backs the club no matter what, sure @Satyriconhome is solid in his opinions, but there is nothing worse than some entity constantly hounding a guy on and on and on and on.

I've always said social media is the best and worst thing to happen to the human race.

Best, I get to interact with family on a consistent base from overseas and stay in touch with friends etc.

Worst, it brings out the most vile of humans ever existed.

I'm really feeling for Jetta and his family.

This thread has turned into a bit of a minefield so I'll try and tread carefully. It shouldn't need to be said but I don't think it's for us white folks to decide the parameters of what is and isn't racist behaviour. That hasn't stopped plenty trying of course. We can definitely play our part though by supporting initiatives aimed at educating or calling out those that are clearly struggling to come to terms with 21st century norms. Political leaders around the world looking for scapegoats for their failed agendas aren't helping unfortunately.

I think and hope everyone posting in this thread and on Demonland agree on two things.

1) We all loathe racism

2) Nev is a great ambassador for the Dees and indigenous people.

You have an army behind you Nev.

I'm assuming you're white, Fork 'em?

To say "just get over it and move on" is white privilege. It's so easy, but ultimately hurtful and extremely unhelpful, for a white person to tell non-white people to "just get over it".

And 1 for the "Woke".
And not so woke.

Wow , I opened this thread this morning when it first started and now I come back many pages in. I haven't read it all and given the snapshot on this page I won't be. All I will say is I love King Nev. Only player I asked for an autograph and I think he is a champion human. I hope he finds form this weekend and plays a blinder. I have no doubt many here feel the same way. I don't pretend to understand what he or many others go through but message to Nev, not everyone is a hater and you have a lot of support. I don't care what colour your skin is, I care that you negate the opposition small forwards and carry yourself in a manner befitting respect. You do that consistently as well as serving the community selflessly. Well done.

You may not change that one person's view but as kids grow up seeing their heroes calling out this behaviour then it changes their feeling towards racism.

The process is slow but look at the difference in attitudes compared with 30 years ago and the difference is stark. It's a lot like losing weight .... You don't notice the change as it happens because it happens slowly, far more slowly than you want, and there are hiccups along the way, but you just need to keep moving in the right direction day after day, year after year until you eventually end up in a better place.

The post isn't for jayden238, it's for the prevention of future jayden238s.

This thread is what the fight against racism needs, discussion and education

Shut it down coz your uncomfortable with it?

You have to call out racist posts

Do you actually know what virtue signalling means?

I am not uncomfortable talking about anything. At no stage did I say shut it down and you suggesting I did is also virtue signalling. It was not about football and should not be on a footy forum, There are other forums here it is better suited to. The moderators are wrong to have the discussion here. Giving posts like this attention is the wrong message to send. 5 pages about a god-dam emoji is nothing to do with football. A discussion about Nev 's drop in form and why he was dropped is appropriate here. Football is not life and you must not have much of one if you can't see past the club and players. Understanding how the technology works is real power and education.

Nev is one our Senior Players. This Topic needs to be discussed and not hidden.
That has been the problem all along, it has been brushed aside.

The topic does not bother me . My issue is that it is not about football. Highlight it as much as you want does not make it about football. The way Nev has been playing he won't be a senior player for long and it is not because of an emoji. Making it about footy and giving it 5 pages is exactly what the troll aims to do. Giving a troll air is feeding it.

Nev should focus on his footy and if an emoji is beating him he should pack it in.

Of course, what you meant to say was “get over it..”

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
