I'm maintained that if NSW can't host footy due to COVID, she's all over. Surely a bridge too far??

The AFL will no doubt be panicking about the rise in cases each day.

AFL still have Darwin up their sleeves, maybe Alice Springs as well.

Pretty sure we will be playing Adelaide in Alice Springs. No idea which round.

While NSW might become a problem for the AFL, it will become a nightmare of epic proportion for the NRL. At least the AFL has WA, SA, Tassie and the NT as predominantly AFL-States/Territory from which it might be able to choose.

Just read a headline (lol) saying NRL looking to move all clubs to QLD.

Skirting all round the country to get the season done it's a bit funny... why don't they just take the whole afl to a neutral location say.. Tasmania or NT and get the whole season done asap

Darwin probably about to come into the mix sooner than expected....

Currently experiencing a balmy, covid free 28 degrees C with  a low relative humidity of 14%, ESE wind gusts up to 46 km/hr.

If MFC are penciled in for hub here, expect to  have home ground advantage at Marrara. Let the circus begin.

How the hell do I get tickets to Metricon on July 26?

I hsve spoken with MFC and they don’t know how many tickets they will get but how else can I get my hands on some?????

Not ideal playing Brisbane at Metricon instead of NSW, but it's probably better to have the certainly of where we'll play now, rather than be like GWS/Richmond or Sydney/Hawthorn who are in still NSW for round 8.

Given how fast the COVID situation changes, who knows this far out whether those games will actually be in NSW, or moved, or even postponed.

We already have one catch up game hanging over our heads, so maybe thats why we were shifted, to prevent possibility of 2nd?

Thanks 58. I did contact them and they ask if I was a member and when I said no they couldn’t get off the phone quick enough. So in other words they were useless.

I stress none of these measures can happen without strict quarantine protocols and the COVID management plan that has allowed the AFL season to proceed.

This is another way Queensland is helping Victoria.

As everyone knows, AFL is more than a sport to Victorians. We know how they feel.

Given the choice between not having a season and having it based in Queensland, I think I know what the fans would like to happen.

It means more Queenslanders can see more games.

It’s another tick for the legacy of the Commonwealth Games and the Gold Coast’s Metricon Stadium.

It’s more fire in the belly for the Suns and the Lions.

And, as I told Gil, if the season is based here — then the Grand Final should be played here too!

Negotiations between the NRL and the Chief Health Officer are continuing.

The health and safety of Queenslanders must always come first.

I loath that woman, however she is absolutely right to milk this for all it's worth. Without QLD we have no season and she knows it.

In fairness they have done a brilliant job with the Dreamtime game and holding it in NT makes a lot of sense

All politics is local politics. Queensland is going to the polls on 31 October this year, so expect a bit more of this while she pushes Queensland's credentials in a way that allows her to take some credit for it (while she prays that there's no outbreak of Covid in Qld before then).

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
