I see Qld have put their hand up for the 2020 Grand Final. Is this the year we lose it?!!

Reported on ABC radio afternoon.

We don’t really play Thursday games so I have no real reference but I hate losing on Friday nights. Ruins the whole weekend. Never liked a Saturday loss either. Ruined Saturday nights.

Friday night wins are the best.

Friday night wins, like hens teeth?

It’s 6:05pm. Great for people with young kids. Gives you 5 minutes to have dinner.

Dinner is done by then... but then you have “Dog Love Books”, followed by “Bluey”, the it is wrestle time, then clean up time then books, then bath or shower then books again and then fingers crossed sleep by 7.30 - 8pm.

Any chance MFC members from non COVID hot spots can fly up and get a ticket for the GC or Hawks game?

There should be 6,000 allowed to Giants Stadium and we all know there will be bugger all attending.

It’s all too confusing. 6.05pm. Ridiculously stupid time. That’s 2020 for you.

It has something to do with the WC v ADL game starting at 3:30 so they can head home straight after, and they want a game in the 6-7:30 timeslot, before the channel seven game commences at 7:40.

It’s another example of Dees getting dudded by AFL.  GABBA and Metricon games can have say 20-25,000 attend. A real crowd.

I’d be surprised to see 5,000 at our Suns or Hawks games.

Honestly in this year of the virus does it matter and do we care?

At least it’s a Saturday. Can do early dinner. Shower and movie by 6pm. Have some popcorn and shut up until the game is done

So, about 6.15 then? (Our games are often over in the first Qtr)

That post didn’t age well....

Lockdown was a lot less painful when I didn’t have to watch Melbourne lose while stuck at home.
Round 2 is going to require a LOT of wine.

Let's hope that Ch-7 put it on live,  on Ch-Mate.

Unlikely, I would have thought. The 6.05 pm slot provides Foxtel/Kayo with an exclusive product which I can't imagine them being prepared to forego.

Foxtel have been crying out for better games and now they have a Melbourne game they must be over the moon with excitement.

Get Perth setup for success. My favorite to host the 2020 GF. Makes sense.  And I hate the sandgropers

Ditto. Will be even better for them when neither WA team will be playing?

Grand final should be played in Darwin.

No. Just no.

Anyone but them.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
