Revised 2020 Fixture

Demonland

Great winnable draw. Very happy to avoid Richmond, Collingwood and GWS. Could be a great chance to get the season off to a good start (well re-start, lets ignore Round 1).

Sunday afternoon is a good time slot for TV. Especially now the weather is mostly awful, and we are still living with restrictions. And to have 3 of our 4 games on FTA is a win. Saints get none!

With no crowds, I don't mind the three Sunday 3.30pm games. Easy enough to watch on TV.

Will mean that at Round 5 we'll have had 1 home game and 4 away games. I imagine that means we're one of the 9 clubs to get 8 home games this year rather than 9, and that we'll have a 7-5 home/away split for the remaining 12 matches.

Actually pretty happy with this draw.

Blues first up will be a good litmus test as to how this season will go, but with our Marvel record and them missing some key targets up forward, even a neutral would expect a win for Melbourne.

Essendon at the G is another good test against a team that is probably around our level. They were very patchy against Freo, so again I'd probably lean towards a win here.

Cats at the G is the best possible scenario really to play them. I'd really love to see us get the win to atone for our woeful round 2 performance last year. This is a 50-50.

Swans at the SCG. We play smaller grounds quite well and without the pro Swans crowd in attendance as well as beating them there last year when we were terrible leads me to expect a win here.

4-1 would be great, however 3-2 is a reasonable expectation for even the most balanced Dees supporter.

Absolutely no idea how we'll go.

If I had one prediction to be honest I think it's that one of the heavy weights are going to have a poor season and will struggle to gain momentum. One of Collingwood GWS or Eagles.

Carlton, Essendon, Geelong, and Sydney first up.

All absolutely winnable games.

will definitely answer a lot of questions.

Going into 2019 we would pencil all those games in as wins. No excuses especially with Geelong at the MCG.

Of course we have got such an easy draw because we are not worthy of a marquee game. (every game a twilight game !!)

Let's hope we start well as we could with luck see some real prime timespots against big opposition if we were to win the first four.

Based on this fixture we must run into the finals with a flurry of home games. With only a 17 round season, and 4 of the first 5 are away.

Does this even matter? Given there are no crowds you could pretty much consider the Essendon game a home game.

This would never happen but I would go far as to say that this season I would be happy to for interstate teams to have more home games than melbourne based teams. This would even out the amount of travel interstate sides have to do.

I agree, one of the heavy weights will fall away and conversely one of the mediocre mid table sides will come from nowhere and finish top 4.  It's just going to be one of those seasons.

I wasn't complaining, and it possibly could. Later in the season they may allow a few (small amount) of fans into the stadiums, so we could get a small amount of gate revenue later in the season.

The 3:30 Sunday time slot would have to be the fourth best time slot of the week outside of Thursday, Friday or Saturday night given it's the only other game on free to air.

Not a bad result from a TV point of view with 3 out of 4 games on free to air.

Exactly. And given how much people have missed sports in general, and that there are currently no local league games or even any pubs open, there really is nothing else for anyone to do but have the game on during this time of the weekend. Especially given it's winter now and by 5pm it's pitch black in Melbourne and about 4 degrees, so most people will be home.

It is a decent outcome but IMHO all the games should be FTA.  I don't have Foxtel and my Sony Smart TV is only a couple of years old but is not Android so doesn't support Kayo.  If this was a normal season I would definitely be going to this match - I'm willing to pay for that but not Foxtel.  How am I supposed to see this match?

Get a chromecast, telstra TV or apple tv? Does your TV have bluetooth? If so you might even be able to stream it from your phone to your TV. What brand/model of TV do you have?

Yes I have to pay extra for those devices though.  It's a Sony Smart TV about 3 years old but it's not an Android model.

Thanks for the help!

Do you know if this is still valid:

https://help.kayosports.com.au/s/article/How-to-Apply-my-Club-Member-Offer#New

If so maybe I need to request an email from the club

Edit:

Looks like a "No"

This offer is valid for redemption up until April 9, 2020.

if you don't want to buy one of the better android boxes (around $200) there's lots of cheaper ones available online that you might like to consider.

For example Kogan has them for $85 and if you can wait for one from China even cheaper again.

You really need one of these to maximise your TV use these days as streaming is becoming more important by the day.

https://www.kogan.com/au/deals/android-smart-tv-box/?department=connected-home&category=media-players-set-top-boxes&order_by=Default&view=grid&price=%2C100

I have an Nvidia shield 2017 model.Took me a little while to get used to the remote but after a few days I loved it.

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence. BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin
