Robbo for me. Was terrific to watch and never left you wondering what will happen next. No doubt Oliver will become a great player but right at this moment I have to favour Robbo.

True, but it is really a popularity contest is most match ups at the moment.

And this is a part of our losing nature.

That its more about old acquaintance,  than being the best.   And admiring 'The Best',  rather than the One's we identify with mostly.

This, IMO, is also linked to our development of our young players minds.  Or lack of development.  We at Melbourne do have a way of getting ahead of ourselves, such is our weakness to put some on pedestals... and to Castigate any who trespass against us.  = Dipper,  Dermie, etc.

There is a distinct lack of balance,  with us in this area,  to our own detriment.

And we struggle to develop fully,  and we also tend to lack that Unpalatable Aggression we castigate in others.  Co-Incidence,?  I think NOT.

Bruise free keeps returning to us... Live by the lack of a sword,  die by the lacking sword.

Robbo was an excitement machine who could win matches but was playing above himself. A top HFF or FP who could play FF.

Clarrie is a once in a generation find. When fit, he plays his own game on a different level to the rest. The many complaints about his hand passes instead of kicks are due to a lack of anticipation by his team mates. This will change when the coaches wake up and adjust the team strategy.

Clarrie for me. Robbo goes into repechage.

Clarrie for me.....

Could potentially surpass the great Jimmy Stynes for Bluey's won. Different player to Robbo but already streets ahead of him & many others in this comp.

Clarrie will go past Robbo, but not sure that he has yet.

Such different roles, I thought the poll was more about how you felt about the player, am sorry but talking about whether we are a hard club with the tight mentality or not, is kind of missing the point of this light hearted exercise (though making a choice causes me more than a little angst) there are enough other posts to lament about the state of the clubs w/l.

Give it another year or two and Clarry will probably overtake him but runs on the board, Robbo was underrated for a while and became a fantastic forward for us. Loved by the fans and he was the first to return that love.

He had an appetite for a big mark against the WCE, could use that. I have always loved the way Robbo, loves the club, gets brownie points for that too.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
