Such a boring match.

There is only one player on the ground with the surname Shaw. Why do the commentators always refer to him as Heath Shaw? (They don't use the other players Christian names.)

It’s Been good listening on the radio today, (solid day in the garden), can hear the players, commentary not trying to become stars of the show. Well on the abc anyway.

Actually, someone mentioned Luke hodge is on ch 7, and C. Ling on abc radio, a demotion, surely

Good to see the Suns are aiming for another wooden spoon.

We are safe from that methinks.

GWS are good and Cats not too bad either. Very fast game.

Hard not to see 0-2 coming up.

Old filth habits die hard. Been happening since the plague of Shaw’s started playing for Collingwood.

They could splice in crowd scenes from the chariot race in Ben Hur.

How about the crowds from Gladiator, complete with thumbs down from the spectators when they are not pleased with the umpires. Release the tigers (the real animals) from beneath the trapdoors underground! That'll teach them.

On a similar note, I've always wanted to know what Garyablettjunior's first name is.

Can not get over how bad the AFL website .  Just wow.  The Match Centre is so bad

And to think of all the extra traffic they will be getting to see that mess.

Agree.  It's not even consistent.  When I looked earlier today the  broadcast info for some matches was different in depending on which page you looked on (both had the revised start times).  Very hard to quickly get information. The site doesn't remember your chosen location or that you have turned off betting odds.

I'm sure I've heard Brayshaw call him little Gary Ablett. Makes him sound like a five year old. ?

There's only one Taylor on the ground. He always get identified as Harry Taylor. Why?

Green always get called Toby Green. Has been for years. At least there's now some excuse for it ... another Green (debutante) playing for GWS tonight.

Still a boring match.

I thought the mail on Green Prior to the draft was that he was good but a risk as his injury would keep him out of most of this season? Oh surprise he is ready round 1.

Are you thinking of Kemp?

Green’s always been ready-made.

I thought Clarkson being there was crap on the optics and didn’t need to be there given the current climate.

But  we’ll agree to disagree.

Okay now you win!

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
