AFL loves being in the news so this is probably manna from heaven for them. Delay, delay, delay.... find a scapegoat because you are too weak to make a decision and wear the negative blowback... announce season will be delayed and say its all about player/staff safety (When, if this was their priority, would have led to a delay announcement several days ago).

Upset "broadcast partners"

Upset "Gaming partners"

Money.

Still, i hope the season starts tomorrow, just because im selfish.

Inside 24hrs following NRL game... means he was infected,  prior to the game.   Probably a couple of days Pre-game.

So what. He would have passed it on during the game in all probability

Those players all go home....

16.5 minute quarters.

17 Rounds

Shorter quarters will favor less-fit clubs, bad for Melbourne unfortunately.

All those efforts by the fitness staff to get our boys to a point that no one else could go to. I wonder if they will alter the way they go about things to allow us to go harder in the shorter bursts.

But good if they push multiple games in a short period of time

Random question on the shortened quarters, what is that meant to achieve? Is that under the assumption that at some point they will be forced to cram more games into less time so therefor recovery time will be shorter?

Sweet. But gee they took there time making the decision. I assume we would already have had a flight booked in case it did go ahead. Well get there, bring the 4 points home and for goodness sake stay safe and healthy.

Potentially - yes.

Season might have to go on hold at some point(s) so having the quarter and game length shortened from the start ensures consistency throughout the entire season (if we get there).

There may be times where we'd have to play 3 games within 2 weeks for example.

I don't understand why you wouldn't cram games in after Round 1?

They might try, but it's utter nonsense. If we stop after 1,2, 4 or 6 games and have a 8-16 week lay off what does it matter?

Stop when it's safe to stop and if we have to play September to December then do that.

If we can't get restarted at all then so be it.

Totally different circumstances. You cannot compare this to anything else.
Meanwhile an NRL player has tested positive AFTER playing a game...

That’s how this virus ? spreads

It is irresponsible madness to start the season now.

People have to rediscover books for awhile....

Says the man posting like crazy about the topic on the internet...
