PLAYER INJURY ESTIMATED RETURN
   Nil
Updated: Tuesday, March 3

That just means they haven’t been pushing themselves hard enough.

We’ve been masterfully managed to maximise the physical improvement each player could make over the pre-season.
That May,  Max And Hannan are all likely to now get up for round 1, shows just how well they’ve don it (Especially Vs last year)...

Definitely no excuses for the Saints then, if they aren't winning then they simply aren't good.

i think the Saints might be this years bolter. They have recruited well and i really rate Ratten as a coach.

They've also sped up their team even more and now have 9 out of 11 games on the quick track at Marvel to start the season, and 15 games there for the year.

They might have some good mids but their forward line is crapola! I’m tipping 12th.

Agreed, I don't see what all the fuss is about. Essendon have a better list IMHO

That’s around where I have them, maybe pushing around finals.

I think they have over recruited. Too many new additions to the squad. Could take them up to half a season or more to gel.

The saints have recruited 1 good player in Hill.

Ryder is finished

Howard is a poor mans Sam Frost.

Jones is a hack

Butler is a very average AFL player

They also lost their best forward in Bruce.

Couldn't agree more, dd36.  I emailed the AFL about my dissatisfaction with their shoddy product and unsurprisingly they haven't even had the decency to reply.

However, if every poster on this site were to do the same thing, maybe they might take notice.

I did the same last week.  I think its the first time I have ever sent in a complaint in my life.

Thats how horrendous their new website is.

Membrey will just kick all 8 goals against us instead of sharing them with Bruce.

They also lost their best mid in Stevens, and a promising kid in Acres.....but they have added 6 players who WILL fill the gaping holes in their list.  It will work for a while.

In the end Stevens wasn't their best mid. The guy barely played. He's no loss to them. If Hannerbery gets his body right he'll be a much better player then what Steven was.

Some on here are underrating their pick ups. The likes of Howard, Hill, Butler and Jones will make them significantly better. Add in a Max King who i think is going to be a genuine star in the mould of Tom Lynch, then they will go well this year.

I see them really pushing around the 8th position.

Agree. I wouldn't write off Ryder either. He was carrying bad injuries for most of his time at Port. He is apparently fit now. Agree Hannebury sounds like he's got his body right and same for Carlisle who has had injury worries for a few seasons.

Their pace cut us to pieces last year and they've gone up another notch in speed with Hill and Jones. We haven't.

They looked formidable in that first Marsh game. Very well structured around contests and clearing the ball to outside runners. Something I've been hoping to see us do but haven't yet. They had clear passes i50 to clear leads. Something I've been waiting to see since Goody took over in Roos's last year. We still don't.

Hill is a match winner. Explosive pace but with elite decision making and skill to deliver the ball down people's throats. Langdon's stats pretty much matched Hills in the last period of last season but he doesn't have the same skill level. If he plays like he did in the last 5 weeks of last season he's going to be the smokey pick up of last year's trade period.

If he was any good, Sydney would not had let him go.

Sydney tried desperately to hang on to Jones but he was determined to go home. He had tried to leave over the previous couple of seasons.

On your theory Langdon must be a dud.

Jones would easily get a game for us.

We're screaming our for run and carry, and sausage rolls. He provides that.

Last year, sure. I'm not sure about that this year.

He provides run and carry, gets caught and turns it over

Sydney need outside speed more than anyone.

He will be a serviceable player at the Saints but he won’t be the difference between them winning and losing games.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
