On point 1: Given more job losses in journalism today the reporter should splash a big AFL Media watermark on them and start the clip with a sponsors message.

Or to be more cynical maybe the club should ban filming of training by AFL reporters without a sponsors message.

Not quite sure what your point(s) are DS.

Mine is that people watch this sort of content. I just did. A few times. And the other clips that fell has put out (i'm not sure who he is by the way)

The club should be firing off exactly this sort of video content as a cheap, easy way to engage fans.  It's a no brainer.

On sponsors the players are wearing new balance gear and their training jumpers have the sponsors logos on them. Sponsor  would be more than happy with the exposure. That's what they pay for.

Given he's not even in enough condition to join the main rehab group this seems a tad optimistic. Goody was saying mid year Pert was saying 4 or 5 games for the season would be a big win which would put it at about round 22. I'd be very very happy if it was around round 16 to 18. I'd be ecstatic if it was mid year. I'd be very very worried if it was round 3.  I don't care how long it takes as long as it means he firstly comes back at all and secondly comes back and never breaks down again.

Exactly, it's not even about this year for me (although that's be great obviously). It's about returning to full fitness and setting himself up for another 5+ years as a Demon if he can get himself right. If that means only half a dozen games or so in 2020 so be it.

AFL media reporter assigned to cover the Demons (and several other clubs).

Certainly the club should be doing it. The logos on the gear is one thing but I reckon a quick Zurich or Jaguar logo flashing up before or watermarked on the footage probably wouldn't hurt.

But my main point was more around the lack of journos being able to cover sports in Australia now with AAP announcing they'll close up today. Mens AFL will always have decent coverage but smaller sports - including AFLW - are going to need to find more revenue for the journos to turn up and cover them. At a minimum McGowan should slip the AFL Media logo on his vision, but if clubs allow it might even have to get his tweets sponsored.

McGowan writes articles for AFL.com.au mainly centred around stats and data analysis from what I can gather. He also does a fantastic podcast called Trends that I can't recommend highly enough.

People don't realise how deeply troubling a day in Australian history this is. The end of the most key source of syndicated press content  because the next generation would rather read opinions from social media influencers than from proper researched and intelligent journalists. AAP was funded by both Rupert and Nine amongst others so was the most unbiased journalism we had. These are the people who keep the b@stards honest. Who's going to do that now. It's a terrible day.

At which point the reporters will say "no worries", turn left to Collingwood training and take a video that gets 10x the views.

Watched the NRL Storm practice game out at Casey on Kayo. Kudos to the people who set this up. Zurich and Hertz in particular and the MFC were very prominent in the coverage. I'm a Storm fan but its pretty obvious on the Storm site that the  "Best" frames from the Casey Game include all their sponsors but Zurich gets a huge amount of their hoarding shown during the game.

Could have been the Lystics podcast that I posted on here after Dr Gonzo put me on to it. Good resource is Dr G.

No where near as "self righteous" as me either.

So Lockhart in the side over Hore??

While Hore provides a good intercept mark, Lockhart seems to be more creative and damaging with his disposal. I'm guessing this is where we want to change our game in 2020. This is what I have picked up from my limited exposure so far.

Correct on all three points.

If, as it seems, HB is going to spend some time at Casey.  What odds the Liston?

Then again, if he plays a dozen games in the AFL, what odds to run a place in the Brownlow?

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
