I think it does the Weid good to get pushed into the ruck a bit - gets him a bit angry, fired up and into the game physically.

Yes. The idiocy of my comment probably wasn't apparent by virtue of its idiotic extent.

I just saw Weid's name to the left on the followers-line and assumed he was named as a mid.

Seems I forgot we don't have any other ruckmen, and also forgot to check who how ruck actually was.

Jumped to the conclusion that we were about to unleash our new two-metre mid sensation.

Either A) I'm free MFCSS and have ignored most of our inconsequential injury reports.

Or  B) Am riddled with MFCSS and just accepted that Weid would start as mid to cover injuries.

I'm guessing a few of the named blokes don't actually play.

Look what that team sheet has done to the enthusiasm in here after last week's injury woes. Same will be going on in most Dees supporters houses.

Are you implying that the released team sheet is just MFC propaganda to lift supporters spirits only for a good ole bait and switch to happen on match day?

Cheers FND. But I have no idea if any of that means the match will be live-streamed for free or not. I'm currently overseas, but will probably be in your hood around the time of our first real fixture: where's the best place up north nowadays to watch the real stuff?

I am hopeful it doesn't pan out that way, but we will see

I don't believe there is any free streaming options.

It's LIVE on Fox Footy which is obviously a Pay TV service. If you have foxtel you can stream it via their app. As you are overseas you would not be able to view it due to their geo-location lock unless you are using a VPN.

If you pay for the Kayo app you will be able to watch it LIVE and later on demand. This is also a paid service but as an added bonus you get almost every other sport as well. I'm not sure whether they have a trial period which you could cancel before payment. As you're overseas you will have the same geo-location lock unless you have a VPN.

As you are overseas you can use the AFL's Watch AFL app which caters to the overseas market. You can watch LIVE or on demand. This is also a paid service but you can get weekly, monthly or yearly subscriptions which you can cancel at any time. If you are overseas you do not need a VPN.

If you don't understand any of this then OK Boomer. :P

The Central is the AFL pub in town. Has a big screen and cold beers.

When are you thinking of coming up? It has been a bit tropical up here lately

Haha. I'm not a Boomer but I still have no idea. I was born in the brief border years between Gen X and the Millennials: most of us are clueless about both camps. We're also mostly all broke for getting caught in between: hence no spare Kayo cash. I had the Watch AFL subscription last year, but paying to get up at 5am in the morning for a couple hours of regular humiliation always felt rather harsh, regardless of my bdsmfc tendencies.

Still the Central? I'm seen many a glorious victory there, as well as a few horrible defeats dating back before the big-screens: including our 2000 prelim win over the Roos, and our crazy 2002 finals loss against the Crows.

Very good !

I am always surprised that some people still think you can get sports free.

It is best to start with the principle that if I cannot go to the event then it is going to cost.

If you don't want to pay / cannot then read reviews like here on Demonland.

Those are your options in the 21st century.

I've got Foxtel currently by really only use it for sport.

For those who use Kayo - what are your thoughts on the service?  Happy with it?  Not happy with it?  I'm thinking seriously about making the change.

I've mainly used Kayo on Desktop and Mobile and i've found it easy to use and good value at $25 a month. There is a great variety of sport and you can also watch the live Foxtel channels on the app as well.

You can usually get a free 1 month trial before having to pay anything.

Perhaps we should change the name of the injury list to the not fully match fit list if that is more palatable for you.

Maybe you could call it "The NQR Squad".

I'm also keen to hear others thoughts on Kayo. I use foxtel and chromecast it but its pretty average quality a lot of the time. Wondering if Kayo might be better? I remember borring a mates and it worked a lot smoother potentially.

It's excellent, I haven't had any issues. If you only use Foxtel for sport you should definitely make the switch.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
