I fly the flag. I find it strange there is such resistance.
Winning creates strong attendances and higher Media exposure. From there opportunity arises

I don't disagree with what you're saying, but I just don't see the need to say it over and over and over again.

Some people are seeing this issue as stubbornly as the MFC saw professionalism in the 70s.

agree TPF39.

Its more than about winning games , its about growth,  and developing the Identity, the public face, the home away from the 'G'_   Where every one is an 'equal',  as a Mfc supporter.  So that we can grow the club.

Grass roots and upward.

When somebody challenges me i answer.
what LN was putting up had nothing to do with the MFC

We are in the unique position of forming out of the MCG, not a suburb and other Teams have claimed our ground & surrounding areas

this is why i am interested in what Mach5 says about Gary Pert. He has no time for him..Why???

I think Pert is doing a great job, i think he is behind this new attitude (i hope so anyway)

He knows that without a good product, his bargaining power is almost useless. Jackson knew it as well, but he had to start at Ground Zero

He has done nothing but sling mud at Pert in a few different threads, has not provided any back up at all for what he has been slinging. He knows nothing.

I didn't bring in any other factors. I pointed out that all of Gold Coast, Essendon and North (to name a few) have great faciilities despite not winning much in the last 10 years.

This was to illustrate that it's not as simplistic as just 'winning games' and there's much more to it.

Seemingly, you have one post that you copy and paste no matter what the subject is though.

North had a great decade in the 90s, 2 flags (4 since our last)

Essendon were a behemoth of the competition until the drugs saga, you could argue they still are and won 2 flags in the 80s and 2 in the 90s/00

Gold Coast are a new franchise the AFL is funding in an expansion market

Not really comparing apples with apples

Even the Saints made grand finals in 97, 09 & 10 and were one of the top teams for about 3 years at the turn of last decade

I know i have read it all.
But he is well connected at more than one club, has been posting for years

It may just be personal, but he knows something

Personal is my guess.

My informed info is that Gosch's Paddock surface is not fit for purpose particularly mid-winter because it's open to public foot traffic.  The training surface there directly caused in-season  injuries last year.  We will need to prevent foot traffic for this to be a meaningful solution.

I can see that goshs is not up to scratch but surely it is not because it is open to public foot traffic. I might be wrong but how many people walk there?

The pies ground is open (albeit with a low fence) as is Waverly.

Out of interest where do Collingwood go for closed sessions?

The comment was 'winning will get us a new training base'.

I pointed out plenty of teams who haven't done a lot of winning lately have got new bases, so it's not as simple as that.

Not at all. We have different circumstances to all the clubs you mentioned. Very different.
we have exhausted all our options for charity.
we need to show that we are worth investing $$ millions into, before we can get a deal

If you think Winning is not priority one Right Now with this club, You are well wrong

Pert is waiting for the Football Team to get going before deals can be done

I will put money on that

You're trying to move the goal posts again.

You didn't say 'winning is number one priority' and then I disagreed. You said 'winning will get us a new training base' and I disagreed.

At least stay on the same point. Trying to change the argument to something it wasn't originally about is incredibly weak.

I have always said Winning is THE priority

I haven’t moved any goal posts at all

You are conparing us to sides who have won Flags in the Modern Era. That is not where we are at.
We are still untrustworthy to potential sponsors and backers

You just like arguing for thee sake of it

The End.

Again, missing and misrepresenting the point.

Sure, you probably have 'always said that', but that's not what the point at hand is, so you're moving the goal posts. Again.

Gold Coast - Disaster club = New base.

North - Won nothing for decades. Less members than us = New base.

Essendon - No finals wins for nearly 6,000 days = New base.

St Kilda - 1 flag. Less members than us = New base.

So no, the evidence does not back up your assertion that 'winning will get us a new base'. It is quite clearly more complex than that. The facts completely go against what you said. Nowhere have I said 'winning isn't a priority' or 'we're trustworthy', you just like to parrot the same rhetoric over and over again no matter what the original point is. There is FAR more to getting a new base than just winning games of football, surely even you can comprehend that?

The 'paddock' part of the name seems quite befitting then 55?

You keep looking at it through the eyes of what other clubs have got.
we are in a different situation, can you grasp that?

Our situation is that if we do not start winning regularly the club will die  i don’t care about what other clubs do, as far as i am concerned they just dilute sponsorship opportunities

You mention St  kilda, now first off they have a huge supporter base  Moorabbin to Frankston is mostly Saints, and even they have huge debt  but they went “home”

We are not allowed the same privalege, we in a unique situation, so other clubs success is of no concern In this discussion

Nort have won 4 flags whilst we languished, that does count for a small club  they still show fight, most weeks in a season  when has the MFC shown fight like that? A few little spikes and then it dies off

Pert is waiting for the Football Dept to deliver, otherwise his hands are tied

We have had no success for so long that nobody trusts that we will prevail.

Winning is everything. It creates passion and attendance. It gets Prime TV ? Spots that sell advertising space for prospective sponsors.
Sponsorship is what will get us a Training base with Government Assistance.

Winning is Priority one. Without it we will end up sharing a ground with FITZROY

Again, your point originally was 'winning will get us a new training base'. And yet again, nowhere did I say winning wasn't priority number one. You really seem to be struggling to discuss the actual point, maybe that's on purpose, I don't know.

You have not been able to back up your original point other to start ranting about winning in general, which is not the point.

I have presented you with the facts that other clubs, most with lower membership and less 'success' than us have gained new elite facilities while we haven't. You're evidence back has been 'yeah, but winning, and delivering, winning etc'.

You deal in pure emotion, I prefer to use factual evidence.

All those sides you mention with smaller Memberships, who actually have had more success than us, have a home base to go to. We do not.
The facts you keep regurgitating do not fit the MFC. We cannot train on our home ground. That is a huge difference in circumstances

Over and out....

I don’t think the Victorian Government or the AFL Have any agenda against us. I think perhaps they are both embarrassed by some of the facilities the club that gave birth to this game is consigned to. It is is possible a sight has already been identified that they support but the MFC reject. We are therefore on our own developing this prospect until their financial backing can be tipped in. Just my hunch.

You could well be right, but i am glad the Club is standing firm. Ultimately the MFC will be stronger if we have a home base close to the ‘G.
We can always build a 2nd facility later in a different area. But the pulse of the MFC comes from the ‘G.

I'm sure they don't. Our relevancy is probably the lowest in Victoria. We can't even play the working class underdog card available to the other also rans that make up the ten Melbourne teams.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
