Gus just needs to stop trying to smother Bedford’s kicks. In the same week Bedford has kicked a ball into his family jewels and put his arm in a brace for a few weeks.

Clearly, Bedford is an enemy agent, implanted in the team to do as much damage to our guys as possible!

I think maybe Bedford wants a winging position,  in the starting 22 ?  ?

I'll take your one Bedford and raise you two Marty Hores. Didn't he break Spargo's footy and then finish KK smacking him in the head in and giving him concussion in the first training session.

I think your two is only half the loss of Bedfords one!

Clearly, our counter-intelligence guys are gonna have to keep a closer eye on them both!  Besides, didn't that Hore guy used to play for the Enemy's 2nds??  The plot sickens!

De Goey is one of the games most dangerous forwards, he has height, pace and dual sided skills around goal that make him incredibly hard to stop. The goal kicking record is there to see.

I don't disagree.

But he only averages 1.3 goals per game over his career. In 2018 he averaged 2.3 and last season 2 per game.

Two goals a game is nothing to sneeze at , particularly these days. But he plays almost as a traditional full forward not a crumbing small forward, for whom 2 goals a game is fantastic. Traditional full forward not so much

For context last season he was 20th on the goal kicking list, tenth in the AFL for goal average and tenth for score involvements. Again nothing to sneeze at and way ahead of trac. But plenty of players ahead of ahead of him too.

Don't get me wrong i rate him very highly, but i suspect he has hit his limit. And i suspect trac hasn't.

My wife just asked me why I’m watching a video of a bunch of hunky dudes working out to a generic, slightly eastern-influenced piece of trap music. I must admit that I didn’t have an immediate answer.

My wife just pushed me aside and said "Let me see, let me see!!"

This kid really has the full package. You can see why he was recruited even if he output isn't there quite yet.

He has one of the most perfect kicking styles I've seen. He's got impeccable judgement marking at the peak of the flight of the ball. Has great speed and athleticism for his size. I'm looking forward to him bringing it to games and cementing his place this year. He's probably the player under the most pressure to perform this year. A lot of list management has been based around him working out. Personally I've got faith it'll happen this year. Not much point thinking otherwise.

The antidote to too much blind loyalty in support.  Some pay it back automatically;  and other need to be shoved off their 'security blanket perch' they have attached themselves to.

Petracca is the latter.   As was Gawn for the first half of his time with us...  and Petracca has reacted positively so far, to the stinging criticism...  as deep down he knew he wasn't putting it all out there for our club.

That's the sort of low expectations of our players,  which allows that casual approach and level of commitment to creep back into our culture.

Too much sympathy is detrimental to most young players...  give an inch, and a mile sneaks out.

Sympathy and praise in balance,  and it should be honest.

Petracca has had plenty of times to get himself fitter over the years by doing extra work away from the club on his own accord.    Just as he has done this year with some others in the US.

The pushing and critique has caused him the question his own past mental attitude...  and he has taken it upon himself to do much more away from the club.  He asked himself for the truth, and got his own answer,  and the rest so far this preseason, seems to be showing itself.

Time will tell how effective this will be,  throughout the course of the 2020 season.

All the critique Demonlander's have placed onto ANB over the seasons,  has not hurt his efforts to do his best...  he has become the leader of our running brigade over the past number of years,  establishing his career through the past few years.

Why can't Demonlander's see their inconsistencies based on playing favorites???

Can you guys not see why this club has failed to develop its higher draft choices... because everyone tells them how good they are,  all the time.   A false sense of security undermines their mental development and efforts.

Balance Balance Balance.

fear of failure is a driver to improve,  to change,  for the better.

This post makes you sound awfully familiar MFM.

If I'm correct, your previous incarnation i think broke the record for the most blocked poster on Demonland.

My apologies if i am wrong - but please do not turn into a reincarnation of that bloke.

This is an early request to tomorrow's track watchers from you're Melbourne brother.

Players of interest will be:

  • Kossie who didn't train with the group last Monday and seemed to be having shots at goal with the rehab group in media of the camp to date.  We need some information.
  • Is Melk running yet?  Boxing workout last week.
  • Is Oscar Baker in the main group yet.  He was hoping to be so.
  • What was Dunkley doing?  Dubbed the "invisible man" by some he was truly invisible on Monday.
  • Any progress reports on Hannan would be welcome.

Thanks for any input you can provide.

Not from Maroochydore but I believe there was a report going around somewhere that Kossie had been lightly concussed at training a little over a week ago. If that’s accurate, he will only being doing light work whilst up there.

MFC photos 21 and 22 from yesterdays training show Kossie training in the yellow vest.

It is my (completely unsubstantiated and unreliable) information that Hore held him down, while Bedford kicked him in the knee...!!  Take of that what you will!  (At your own peril!  LOL)

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025. The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
