Holland out, Neaves in

i reckon it would have been better if they'd given a newton a chance instead. 3 ruckmen is too many and we seem to have a lot of defenders. if we brang newton in, he could have had a taste of afl, which could help him develop faster. but i hope neaves does well anyway

If you can understand the general jist of what someone is saying (or trying to say), then why bother picking on them for their spelling mistakes? I don't know what it is but some people on this site continually do it when in reality, it's pointless - it's a footy forum, not an English lesson.

AGREE COMPLETLY. too many members on here take this too seriously, like its meant to be a report. However i have spoken abou this in the forum several times and some of these members very serious supporters. You cant chance their view.

The FD must be contemplating playing Neaves because I don't see why they would have named a replacement for Ben Holland at all. Either that or they're sending him a message that he's getting close.

As for replacing Holland with Newton, I don't think it would be a good idea. Based on all of the information I've received from those who saw him in Tuesday's practice match, his (Newton's) performance was very much below par. The message they would want to give him from that is that if he wants to play in the big time, he's got to produce some good form to justify it first.

Yeah, I'm happy about that too. Crownies if you can afford them, but I'll take Carlton Draught.

Because some of the people here spend a LOT of time on these boards. You can't skim through a members post as quickly if you're deciphering what they're trying to say. If there's the odd typo (teh instead of the) or spelling error on a huge word, or even a bit of poetic license (Toigs, Caaaahlton, Terry Wallet) then most can cope, but there are some who don't have the respect for fellow posters to do the right thing and go over what they've written and quickly correct it. One of the problems is that the posters making the really glaring errors aren't the ones who have to read those posts.

Example, which one would you prefer to read -

Mlebourne had a realy good year this seeson i thought neeta was really good and arron was awesome,, brad greens kicking has ben pretty bad too i think brock is is a champ and hes going to be their when the borwnlow is read out in big numbers go deesy ou rock I h8 essendon

or

Melbourne had a really good year this season. I thought Neitz was really good and Aaron was AWESOME. However, Brad Green's kicking has been pretty bad.

I think Brock is a champion, and he's going to be there when the Brownlow is read out. And in big numbers too.

Go demons, you guys ROCK!

P.S. I HATE Essendon.

Like you say, it's not the end of the world, but then people aren't ABUSING you by pointing out a spelling error. They're just being cheeky and having a bit of fun. If they were being insulting, then you'd probably be entitled to be a bit miffed, but the way this board is run, the offending post would hardly see the light of day.

Incidentally, half the time I type it ends up like the first example above before I go through it and make it easier to read.

Just from my point of view, I reckon Whispering Jack, Rhino, Jaded and the long lost Hannabal know how to type a thoughtful, entertaining post, among others. You only need to compare some of the worse posters on here with some of the abovementioneds' larger posts to see which ones are easier to read, and understand.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I watched the Carlton v Essendon game played at the same venue yesterday and IMO, Essendon's main problem was that it was top heavy with big men and didn't have enough mids to compete with Carlton especially in the first half. IMO therefore, we don't bring in Neaves but rather go for an extra midfielder because the Hawks are very strong in that area.

I must be on my own planet as I have yet to see anything in PJ that suggests that he will make it as a ruckman, to me he is purely a tall forward. I think Neaves has already taken the 3rd ruck position away from him.

The same weaknesses that curse PJ as a ruckman will undermine him as a tall forward

Yeah, we shouldn't be pinning our hopes on this bloke. If he comes good then it's a bonus.

We were absolutely smashed in the rucks and in the middle in the last 30 minutes of play. We have a definite problem with our rucks but our midfield will be better when Brock and Beamer are back.

We also have to cut out those dinky little short handpasses in the middle of traffic which were so predictable and often intercepted and then set up Hawthorn goals. It was an embarrasment to the coaching panel.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
