I don’t really follow much of the draft stuff but what are the chances we get both Green & Kemp ?

I would say extremely low.

We could potentially draft both if we wanted to as it appears that GWS would not match our bid on Green in favour of Jackson. However it’s sounding like we will be taking Jackson at pick 3 and not bidding on Green.

At pick 10 it’s sounding as though we are most interested in one of Young/Ash/Stephens/Weightman. If we split pick 10 then we might be a chance of landing Kemp but personally I think he will be out of our reach if we were to do that.

I for one would be very pleased with Green and Kemp but just don’t see it happening.

Both just sound like they have so much potential IMO. Plus do we really need Jackson considering we have Max ?

@Ethan Tremblay The trade whisperer - Yesterday's man....

Not even sure if this is possible of if it favours us but ...

Let's say Dees nominate Green with pick 3.

Giants come to us and say we will give you pick 4 and a future second round for pick 3.

We say yes, then giants get jackson at 3 and green at 4 (as dees nominate him again at pick 4).

Dees pick then becomes pick 5.

Dees nominate Henry.

Freo come to us and say we give you picks 8 and 9 (after green match) for pick 5 and 28 (i know they gave it to us so it can be that pick, but lets pretend to keep it 'easy').

We say thanks for that.

Freo pick say Aish at 5.

Swans pick Flanders at 6.

Adelaide pick McAsey at 7.

Dees nominate Henry again - matched by Freo at pick 8.

Dees then have picks 9, 10 and 12.

Presumably dees would take Young with pick 9.

Dees could then do a trade with the Cats for example they have two future first round picks WCE and Cats.

Dees could trade 10 for 16 and a future first round picks.

Meaning dees would go from picks 3, 10 and 30 (after matching picks) - to picks 9, 12, 16 and get a future first and second round pick.

As I said, not sure if that is even a good deal or if its even possible,  but if possible dees could screw up a lot of clubs plans.

He’s just speculating at this stage, a poor mans Grand New Flag minus the riddles, if you will. It’ll take some sort of trade whisperer to beat my strike rate of 100.00.

Edit: Confirmed, he’s a fraud. The Herald Sun were already reporting that we may split pick 10.

My fave thing we could do would be to swap 3 for 5 and 25 from swans, let them have Green and screw over giants. Then we get whoever isn't taken out of Young, Jackson or whoever else we would like. I wish we had a need for Flanders so we could wreck Adelaide as well.

There's a lot of merit in this line of thinking.

It'd be an interesting move, but would also mean we likely miss out on Green and Jackson, if it's true GWS won't match.

Yeah - it's a biased opinion, because I would be happy with Young and another prospect on top as well as limiting the GWS haul.

Fair enough. Im happy with one of Green/Jackson/Young, not set for or against any in particular. There seem to be a few interesting prospects in the 15-25 range like de Konig and Gould, so wouldn't mind an earlyish 2nd rounder if we can get one back.

My track record speaks for itself Basil.

Stick to the jokes, the classic Demonland nastiness doesn't suit you.

It wasn’t meant to be nasty, just a bit of banter between two trade whisperers. #Youstillhearditherefirst #WhispersbyET.

So any of ye two trade whisperers think anything likely to happen before the day is out?

I was told by a semi-reliable source that yesterday we were in negotiations. Make of it what you will. If the deal gets done, then it’ll happen.

Stranger things have happened but would be surprised if Young & Ash slip through as far as 10.  Both top 7/8 prospects imv.  We gave up the chance for Ash when we swapped pick 8.

GWS can't trade their second round as they've traded their first round. They also need some form of points for the pick matching. The rest of your post is about as likely to happen as gc trading picks 1+2 for 3

You can't trade a pick that you've used in a bid.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
