It would take me 0.00000004 seconds to accept Zac Williams and 6 for 3. Sadly it will not be a possibility.

i'm a bit cautious though. i'd take about 0.000002 seconds.... pays to be sure.

Didn't they swap those picks yesterday?

Apologies, yes. Was looking for the Report that Dees were looking to swap and didn't check the time of the tweet.

Surprised the Trade Radio guys didn't ask whether Mahoney had anything else planned.

Pick 6 and the proceeds from Bonar / Patton trades for pick 3.
Come on GWS, roll up your sleeves and get it done.

Remember - if our trade with GWS is a pick swap ONLY then we can do it after the trade period ends.

No need to man the panic stations with minutes to go on Wednesday.

They'll need those picks to pay for Green. It needs to be 6 + a good player or 6 + 2020 first.

Dunno why there isn’t more chat here about a split with the cats. Their list manager came out and said there’s s player in the draft they like and the only way to be sure they get him is to have pick 3( or something to that effec). They have 14, 17 and 24 at the min. Prob not what we want but if 17&24 could be turned into a top 10 then happy days.

We need to be talking to them regardless even if it’s just to force GWS hand.

Think we are still keen on it. In Mahoneys trade radio interview he mentioned it was important we maintained our draft position, both this year and next, as part of todays trades to set up for the remaining period of the trade period.

There's a Jon Ralph article on the Hun website that talks about our pick 3, but I can't get around the pay wall...

No need to talk to Geelong. Taking Green will force GWS' hand.

He basically quoted Mahoney saying we are happy “right now” to keep pick 3 unless a really good offer is made. So we are putting it out there.

I think if we do a swap with GWS, it'll come late in the trade period.

At the moment, even if we did a swap, GWS wouldn't have enough points to recruit Green and whoever they picked with pick 3.  They're well short and probably need a pick in the late teens or a pick in the 20s and a pick in the 40s to have enough points to recruit Green.

They'll get something for Patton but they'll likely have to give up something else before they're even in a position to trade for our pick 3.

I get the sense that we may hold pick 3 until the draft and then look at swapping picks in the early stages of the draft as other club's desires become more transparent.

The problem with trading picks during the draft is you can only trade for picks, not players. So we can't ask for pick 6 + a player, only a combination of picks.

I'd rather we get the deal done before the draft. Push GWS into 6 + Caldwell or Hately.

At that stage it’s too late to be any good to us other than revenge. If there’s anybody in the draft after the first 2 that GWS rate higher than Green then we get another inside mid for what?! To stick it up GWS???

Cats are prob in need of an inside mid in that age bracket than we are.

GWS would want to try and get our pick 3 to ensure no one bids for Green.  How about Pick 3 for Bonar and pick 6, we might need to throw in a late pick for points but I reckon GWS would want to remove any club from bidding for Green, means they basically get the 2 players that would be top 10 picks for 12 and 18, massive win for them

We walk away from Trade week with Langdon, Bonar, Tomlinson pick 6 and what ever we get for Frost.

This sounds like a sexy option.

I am the first to admit that I'm against splitting the pick but after having a look at the positions played by the top 15 picks in the Power rankings I am coming around to it.

I assume we are in desperate need of an outside mid. Other than the touted pick1the next player described as an outside mid is Trent Bianco who is ranked 14. (Sounds okay but might be too short at 178cm given the number of small players we have at Casey presently)

By the way what in the hell is a "balanced midfielder" as I notice there's a couple of those

No, we get the third best player in the draft at that stage.

Someone who can play both inside and outside I suppose.

Thanks....I thought the same thing but as I had never herd the term before it interested me.

Would also be useful if they listed things like left or right footed and my favourite.... can kick both feet and turn both ways.

Agree, I think if we were to split our pick 3, the Cats would probably be involved. On a pure swap of these picks:

Melb pick 3 = 2,234 pts

Geel picks 14 and 17 = 2,186 pts

If it were to happen, might be some haggling over later picks to even the ledger.

I’m not across the draft prospects but most articles in the media have him around 5. If GWS think young or any other player is a better player or better suits there needs they will not match for Green.

But at least people will still be able to complain that we don’t have any quality small forwards or enough players who can kick straight.

We know what BWS can potentially offer up, what can the Swans offer up in terms of player plus pick 5, if they want our pick 3?

Would you take pick 5 and Buddy, if they paid $400k of his contract?

nope...it would be like bringing back Mark Jackson.... a real circus and we would end up a laughing stock

Fair enough. I reckon he'd bring 5,000-10,000 memberships to the club alone. And kids still love Buddy too.

Buddy's done for. Maybe good for 40 goals if he could get on the park and had good delivery. At best that would happen for 2020. More likely 12 games and 10-20 goals.

His one remaining weapon is his ability to kick a goal from 55.

Sad because he is a great player and if it wasn't for that ridiculous contract the Swans have he would have retired and assumed his place among the media in 2020.

Pick 3 is worth more than Pick 3 this year! It might as well be Pick 1...

Teams need to pay overs if they want it! It’s not a like for like pick as far as the points system says so...

It is a Nugget of a Pick especially for the Dees (because we have it) and the Giants (because they need it and other teams might want it)!

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
