Hi Nev, so are you suggesting there is either a) specific unrest, or b) general unrest ?

I get the sense that you are hearing things - do you have a level of concern about us losing significant talent due to internal stuff?

I can't predict the future, and I'm not an 'insider' myself, so I'll just put those disclaimers in at the top.

I have heard, and already posted here somewhere, that there is significant 'friction' (the word used when explaining to me) between a group of younger players and older players at the club. I don't know if that relates to the co-captains at all as I've not been told that specifically, but I was told Lewis has no interest in involvement in the club going forward due to it, so don't expect him to be back as a coach next year.

Both Petracca and Brayshaw have had significant meetings with Mahoney that involve their managers. Content wise I don't know, but they were before the Kangaroos game, so they weren't exit interviews, they were specific meetings.

The tension goes up the ranks somewhat though from what I've heard. I'm not 100% sure how bad, and perhaps a winning season may heal wounds, but as it stands right now we are seemingly a somewhat fractured club.

Difficult meetings have been held today too apparently. Not player-related ones.

I don't think things are unfixable, but they are far from good, and anyone thinking preseason fitness will solve everything is mistaken IMO.

Or he could just be taking the mickey out of everyone, an anonymous poster on a internet site coming out with a heap of " I was told by my contacts", who are the contacts? I will wait to see what unfolds over the next few months.

Brad Hill wants to live in Vic.  Hogan did the right thing by us by staying when his dad was sick and the decision to return home was a personal one, we facilitated the trade because it was the right thibg to do. Steven May spent 8 years at a club that was about to embark on a third rebuild, he left for a fresh start. I cannot see a possible good reason for Trac to want to leave this year that would motivate the club to even entertain a trade.

I didn't say all their individual reasons are the same, I was merely pointing out that being contracted does not preclude you from being traded. Players get where they want to, that's just how it is.

Open your eyes mate. There is enough noise now to say things aren't all rosey behind the scenes.

Fair comment. I totally understand that we're all anonymous fans on the internet, won't try and argue as I would feel the same.

You're absolutely more than welcome to look through my past posts though and see I don't generally post things that are just made up or try and troll people with deliberately outlandish statements. Obviously I'm not going to say who has told me though, so of course scepticism will remain.

You never know, it may all get handled brilliantly and be the making of us. I'm holding out hope for that.

Right now though, it's a real sinking feeling.

If not the Cats there will be others sniffing. pretty easy to see why. Coach to recruiting dept.

Go find me,  a super talent, not playing to potential, not playing in his ideal position, ideally at a struggling club. Offer him team success, big crowds a solid contract and a system that will improve him as a player.

So is so called info given to you in confidence and you are just taking it upon yourself to break that confidence or is the so called source of your info breaking a confidence that they should not be.

You are believing someone you don't know?

And where will the Cats plan to play him. midfield. Exactly where we should have built his fitness to play.

Like the Pies who were going to play Howe forward where we should have played him.

He's playing back, where we played him...apparently a genius move by Buckley.

Trac will play where it best suits us/them, there are no guaranteed positions in football and his manager know that.

Based on the way we have handled stuff in the past I wouldn’t hold my breath lord.

We have a nack of finding new ways to screw our selves over.

To be honest, I don't ask if they're breaking confidence by telling me things. I don't post everything I hear though and sometimes I'm asked to not pass particular things on and I don't.

I understand you not believing me. I have no problem with that as I would be exactly the same. We'll just go round in circles though with this. Just decide you don't believe me and I'll be ok with that.

Losing Petracca won’t be the making or breaking of any flag chances.

We’re that far off the pace that losing a single player here and there is completely irrelevant.

Would go a long way to explaining part of the reason we have been [censored] this season drysdale.

I think the problems of this year are more involved than perhaps a few players being *issed off with each other.

I’ve heard similar negative things that have been alluded to by Lord Nev. a fractured group. One leader that isn’t well liked and the players don’t respect. You can put the pieces of the puzzle together from that.

Spot on. Doesnt work hard enough and is unreliable under pressure.

At his best he can break packs and shrug a tackle but he cannot finish or kick to a target so I cant see how Geelong will give us anything less than 2nd round.

He has definately improved this year and I'd like to hold into him for one more year to see whether he could back it up.

You clearly didn't see his work that got the ball to ANB in the last 40 seconds of the game

rumors, rumors, rumors some people thrive on them, I just ignore them.

But that leader is not at the club anymore??

Isn't it all a coincidence that everyone now has so called 'sources within the club after finishing badly towards the end of the year...

Either people love to make [censored] up to suit their own agenda or ego's, or we have a rat within the club thats leaks like a burst cracked pipe.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
