Definitely keen to get him to the Dees. His kicking and drive are what we are lacking, so he’s be upgraded depth at worst. Haven’t heard his name mentioned at all around the traps, but I’m hoping we’ve enquired and can get him across cheaply with little fuss.

Yep I agree, could see him playing across a wing half back as he provides run and carry

Get him. Late pick. At worst he’s upgraded depth. Good penetrating kick off half back to replace Hibberd in the near future.

Would hopefully allow Salem to push into the midfield and use Cutler's run off half back.

I don't think Salem is back because there isn't other options, it's more that he didn't cut it in the midfield.

But agree Cutler would be a good get.

Agree WTM.It's probably a bit too hot for him in there, but he excels when given a bit of time allowing him to capitalise on his disposal.

Believe he had a few injury issues that saw his 2019 effected.  If he gets over those i believe he is a meaningful upgrade on a Stretch.  Bit more of a running outside winger but also bigger bodied with a significant height advantage.  Averages about double the number of goals and just under double the meters gained vs Stretch.  Marks a tad more.  Stretch tackles a bit more and a few less turnovers but might be kicking it safe more often.

Significant improvement on the likes of JKH.  ANB plays a diff type role but might even push him out a little depending on roles / match ups.

Not very good on the trade front but gut feel says for a mid late third round Cutler improves our depth as mentioned and is a bit of a steal.  Be going for him big time on that proviso subject to the usual medico testing.

Not much here ...from 38 second mark if interested.

Cutler v Stretch (Career averages)...

Never really heard of him.  192 cms utility.  could be good back up for Tomlinson on the wing and cover down back with frosty going.

24yo and 66 games so should be hitting his prime.  might be worth a punt

Yep to me he still lacks that hunger.

He's tough enough, got great skills, I just wonder whether he's a natural ball finder though. A bit like the debate with Trengove. I'm not convinced he can't find enough of it, but I like him as a player.

Absolutely he's tough, but to me he needs to become more selfish as a player.

Averaged around a goal every 2 games and roughly 20 touches in 2018. Definitely a sound depth upgrade for a wing role or a high half-forward. What was his injury that kept him out this year?

yeah i also think he was unlucky with the Lions hitting peak form this year and him having an injury. He is no star but he is solid and fits a need we have.

What is his injury issue?  Someone suggested a foot - that would definitely put me off in a big way.

Draft pick 73 gets it done. Only because Lions will want to free up some lust space.

Cutler fits our needs. Fast. Gialkicker. Good size.  Wing or half back.  Good ball user.  Only squeezed out by Lions new midfield.

Are you a Kiwi, or is there more to this up in Brisvegas?

Had an ankle for about four weeks mid season.  I think it's a recurring one but only guessing.  Might be a bit of a risk on that front but then Stretch hasn't exactly been durable either.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
