unfortunatly, not renewing  Doesn't  solve any on field problems and sure doesn't  help off field, so yeah I'm  in again.

Sucker for punishment.

I renewed a month ago, wouldn't think twice about it

For those not renewing, are you going stop whingeing on DL? I think it's only fitting you do

So, as you dont have a membership to this site, i guess you are going to stop having an opinion on here then?

Its "only fitting" as you say.

Absolutely not!

And I think it's incredible so many supporters claim to be do angry with this club, yet are prepared to sign on. Not sure you can complain if your prepared to just resign again

There wont be a club if we all just jump off. Someone's gotta put there hands in there pockets.

No, I will not be a member next year. The way I look at it is if I performed as bad at my job as this club has this year, I would be fired. So I don't see the obligation of supporting them next year.

Earlier this year, I was thinking of getting out of Melbourne for the winter but the only thing that stopped me was the MFC being premiership contenders. I only had a 3 game membership this year and I was thinking about how many general admission tickets I would have to buy to see all the games that I would want to go to. Well in hindsight I made the right decision because I dragged myself to the MCG on Friday night to use up the 3rd game on my membership.

I've already given my boss a resignation date in March next year and will buy a few Lonely Planet books in the coming weeks.

Thus said, I hope next year to be somewhere on the other side of the world and here that the Dees are doing well.

I recommend Prague and Slovakia. Get to these for cheap food, beer and cool little places .

My membership is the only real voice I can send the club that I am ashamed and embarrassed to be a supporter. Until Goodwin and the majority of the FD are changed, that the club starts taking player development seriously and recruits effectively, I will not be signing up.

If the club wants my support and membership (let's face it, it's just money to them), then they are going to have to deserve it.

We need better people in the club (players as well) ... those who are there are mere custodians.  Poorly performed people rarely last very long so others come in and try their best.

I view the club as I view the clubs that I played for - I'm there for life.  Through thick & thin. Never quit.

It's your club,  support it.  If you want to criticise those within the club,  go right ahead.  But don't punish your own club.

Smith,  Barassi,  Flower,  Neitz and numerous others never gave in,  why should you?

If you want to not voice your concerns to the club that's fine. Same garbage for the last 10 years, excluding last

Gossip and rumour of course, but yes the things I've heard paint a very poor picture from the board down.

There is division in the board, there is a 'click' group of Mahoney, Goodwin and Viney (Snr), there is a split between the co-captains, there is unrest with one co-captain in particular among the playing group, a president who has the biggest ego out of all of them and there is a growing disconnect with former greats of the club, both players and others, who have been basically shunned from the club.

Some of those things can be improved by winning games, simple as that, but we are very very much on a knife edge right now.

You just gotta laugh sometimes.

The concept of a “clique” consisting of Mahoney, Goodwin & Viney is absurd - imagine criticising a footy dept for maintaining a close relationship and supporting one another!

Secondly, name another president that doesn’t have a healthy ego.

And finally, the exact opposite is largely the case. Previously past greats of the club have felt disconnected, and while it’s far from perfect, bridges are someway down the path to being mended.

If MFC membership were a long term investment it would be like putting money in a new apartment with combustible cladding and budding concrete cancer, a house in coal mining town or a timeshare resort after knowing all the faults and facts.

We might lose some members because of a poor season but it won't be 10,000.  There's a reasonable chance we'll rally anyway and the membership tally has a mid year cut-off which is often related to a teams improvement or otherwise.

Goodwin will be surrounded by a whole new crew of assistants and up to a dozen new players.  Our season was shot to pieces after round 6 and completely gone after the QB game.  I didn't expect the team to rally but I do expect wholesale changes.

So I'm sticking fat.

As others have said,  people like you need to address the club directly.  Go to the AGM and voice your concerns.

I understand what you are saying Macca, but life changes, for me I no longer live inner Melb, it’s a whole day excursion to go to a game, add in late starts and very early work starts doesn’t help. I also have taken up Archery which is also on weekends, I’m coming back to Europe next year Jul/Aug so it isn’t always so black and white.

And to be completely honest I am not enjoying football at all. I like to think of my self as a rusted on supporter and after following the Dees, Rams and Bolton... well let’s say I struggle to choose teams well ?

I def won’t be getting reserved seats and GGF tix, wether I buckle and get a 3 game or country membership only time will tell.

I won’t criticise others for not renewing as I don’t think it’s ever as easy as you should or shouldn’t. Life’s never that simple.

You haven't been here long have you?

You're therefore coming across as a troll.  In fact,  you probably need to prove that you're a true demon don't you?

I normally give the newbies the benefit of the doubt but here you are urging everyone to not renew their memberships.  I reckon even those who do want to quit don't need an outsider telling them what to do

Let's just see if you stick around hey.

People are entitled to have their view. And how am I stopping people from signing up for another garbage year?

And no, I don't live under a bridge

Here's a quick story for you Gorg (and others)

I started supporting the club when I was 6 years old.  1965

For the next 22 years we never played in 1 finals series.  For the most part we were directionless and inept for that time period.  Never looked like it save for a fleeting moment in 1971 and the end of 1976.  28 years old and my team finally plays in a final (1987)

If I was ever going to quit it was then.

But it's my club.  And it's my club for life.

I'm still here and there are many here who share almost the exact same story.  Nutbean,  Go the Biff and numerous others including those who I'm often in conflict with (Bub & Wyl) I share their frustration but often a club falls away because of the people within the club.  They are not the 'actual' club - they are mere custodians passing through.  We're here forever.

The cure for me is that we need a whole new bunch of personnel to be injected into the club.  The head coach needs wins early next year or he is gone.  And if Goodwin needs to be replaced there's a good chance we'll rally anyway.  So it's a win/win if things pan out that way

Mate,  you live miles away.  Many out that far just take out a country membership anyway.

Just do what you can.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
