Needs to go play rugby union.

A very very LIMITED Footballer , close to zero skills and tries to break every tackle. Worst Captain in the league in my book and it will be a deesgrace if either Him or Jones are Captains again next year!

If you or any other supporter thinks they know more than the football dept. you are delusional and that is a fact

Really?? Then our footy Dept has been tracking Exceptionally well of late don't you think??

There are many "Respected" Demonlanders that I think are on the money with many opinions. Dazzle Davey 36 being one!

We need MORE heads to roll. I don't think Goodwin has any idea what to do. FWIW I also heard the same story about some player resentment regarding Viney's selection as Captain, and source was a former player!

Trading Viney is our best way to get 3 picks inside top 20 of the draft. We need a Rozee/Dursma/Butters esque draft.

Would do it in a heartbeat but we wont coz we "Don't play for keeps"

I watched last year's winning finals today for a bit of relief

Jack was just great

Sure he needs to tweak his game, and improve like everyone else, but he's a gun and should play his career at Melbourne ❤?

That’s what no pre season does to ya. He and many others just haven’t got going.

2 years ago before the foot blew up we were talking about him winning the Brownlow. He was influential, tough and racking them up. The final wins we had last year demonstrated how important he is when in form. Let’s wait and see after he gets a full preseason in and then judge him.

Agree 100%, let’s see what he can do after a full pre season! He has lifted the team on his own back in a few big games when firing, would be great to see him 100% fit at the start of the season.

Posters should watch the last two minute of the Brisbane Geelong game. Lincoln McCarthy takes a screamer 20 metres out, Captain Zorko walks with back with him to take his shot and gives him calming advice to settle him for the pressure kick. Of course he kicks the match winning goal. Don’t see Viney or Jones do that often.

I am happy for Jack to remain a Demon

But he cannot be a Captain. It is just not on

Both Captains have failed in their duties, responsibilities must be accepted for this horror year

agreed. he’ demands high standards but isn’t a leader of men and yes thee IS a difference. He needs to focus on his own game The morale, connecting. and care of each other within this team needs rebuilding ... jack just isn’t the man fr that.

Correct. I don’t blame him. You are either a leader or you are not.

Both of our Captains right now are not natural leaders. It’s plainly obvious.

I can still hear Max’s speech at last years B & F.

We need a clean slate next year

I am coming around to this conclusion for team captains, team selection, team coaching. Assistants and advisors. As well.

We need an assistance coach who is capable of being no 1, a plan A, plan B and even plan C.

we need to recruit another backman and a small and tall forward who can play in the best 22.  How and who , I have no idea, but I do not think we can wait for a young recruit to grow into those roles.

2019 has been just so bad, no game plan, no forwards, no team spirit, our best 22 injured half the time. We need drastic change or we will be rubbish for the next decade.

With luck we might have picked the fitness man for the job. I hope so.

But I will not be purchasing the 6 memberships I usually do until February,

if I do.  No I will rejoin but it’s a small protest!!

I agree mate. This year is a complete collapse. I don’t care what the spin tells me.

What we have now has failed, and it must be treated that way. It collapsed in The Preliminary Final and has remained broken all year.

Totally unacceptable to 52,000 Members.

I hope most Members with hold paying next years Membership till later, after serious changes have been made and instigated otherwise we will go nowhere fast

We've come a long way Byron ??

Should stand down from the captaincy and focus on being the best player he possibly can be. we've made the same mistake over and over, Grimes, Trengove and now Viney. don't make a player captain until he has his game totally sorted.

Max Gawn should be captain next season. potentially supported by Nev Jetta

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
