Hurn out hurts them. now we just need Preuss to crunch McGovern in the first 5 minutes, and their backline might start to feel the pressure. oh hang on, I forgot. we don't have actually have any genuine forwards playing, so it probably wont make a difference anyway.

these were the stats for the prelim thumping.. boy that gameplan was badly undone

MFC is the left hand column... won every stat

what will we see today

Stats

  365 Disposals 353
  40 Clearances 40
  58 Inside 50 49

  47 Hit-Outs 39
  19 Free Kicks 19

Anyone else watching the pregame on 7? How good was that with Gilly?! Was getting emotional just talking about his connection to the place and the people. Makes such a meaningful break from all the usual in-jokes and the commentators showing old clips of each other.

Pressure is off Praha. We cannot make Finals, so we are a big chance to “turn up” today...

The first 10 minutes will tell a story

Yes we will play with zesty gay abandon or get flogged mercilessly. Can’t see options in between.

Neville Jetta will have tough a game. Too many whiz bang WC indigenous stars to cover.

Would like to see us recruiting more indigenous players for the run, class and skills to finish over the likes of Spargo, ANB, Keilty, JKH and the Wags etc.  Need to be goers also though with a bit of nasty.

If Lewis is going to play deep forward he needs to play in front!

No "Nasty" LN :pj:

I am redacting the Wags bit... more faith in CWags than J.  Is a real goer and might make it

So obviously holding the ball is not going to get paid today.

Good endeavour so far.

Not many Dees fans up there.

That shoukd have been paid to Preuss

Regulation shot on goal didn’t even go near it. Terrible from Viney.

Good to see Gus start in the middle.  Needs to find some form there today.

Viney delivers a captains behind.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
