Surprised nobody's yet mentioned BT's little stuff up on Friday pumping up the Eagles for their big heart of the nation clash on Alice Springs against Adelaide next round...

Dee Zephyr did on the Non MFC Games thread. Credit where credit is due. BT needs to study more doesn't he?

Dunno. But how stupid are we as a club, playing the reigning premiers at a neutral venue?

We’re one all with them at their home ground last season. They haven’t lost at the G for a few years. A neutral venue suits.

What happened to the honourable tradition in football of taking things one week at a time?

Well it’s only the dogs today who we’ll easily beat. Our minds are on bigger things. After this it’s  into a top 4 clash w WC.. sigh.  I miss 2018.

Totally agree. It is all about winning games.

Fund the $$ from elsewhere.

We as a rule play better in Alice than at the G. Until we get more members we all need to get over this rant as it will remain at least a game a year in NT for years to come.

Oh ffs. We did and still do need the $$$$$$$$$, get over it. We almost beat them at there manufactured cauldron this year.

Do we...need the $$  that much ??

Get rid of a few nice to have but not absolutely  required ppl.

But leaner...get meaner

Get clever ffs Melbourne. ..bunch of fools

Sorry I missed this reply. So like Hawthorn and Tassie or the Bulldogs at Cazaly stadium in Cairns (they won the flag in 16). For mine it makes zero difference.

Agree Cards, good sides win anywhere

If we’re not good enough to win in the heat of Darwin (not the Alice) and then for us to be “too sapped of energy” the next week and lose that game and then to not make finals by a game or %, well we were never winning a flag in that season.

This season is shot so the money we get from this game will potentially make up the forecast finals revenue we aren’t going to make that we would have budgeted for.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

The Demons put four quarters of hard contested, fast running and high pressure football to knock off the ladder leaders and early premiership contenders the Gold Suns by 20 points at the MCG on Easter Sunday.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
