So named because something you'd normally pay $7 for will cost you $11 at their stores.

The lead has been pegged back to 21 points again.

Casey might have finals aspirations but to battle to put away one of the bottom clubs is not a good pointer for the rest of the year.

Not venturing into the game of criticising Oscar (I think he had good skills but just lacked the necessary 'frostie' pace) but if I was him and played golf off the 1 or 2 he is on, I know what I would be doing on the weekend. You can play for life at a nice leissurely pace.

Kyle Dunkley another good game with 18 disposals 5 tackles and a goal.

The name Stroobants is of Dutch origin in case anyone was wondering. Which I expect no one was.

Hard to get a handle on VFL form as the game was so congested and scrappy.

Preuss dominated with pack marks in the first half but went out of the game from a marking viewpoint in the second half.

The number of behinds suggest we dominated but I never got that feeling. More it was one of comfortable superiority with Coburg nipping at our heels.

Spargo tried but couldn't break free. Much the same with JKH and KK. The day can best be described as hard ball get... handball to nearby player who gets caught trying to break free.

Sorry it was just too cold to try the local Coburg brew but the coffee barrista was doing a roaring trade.

Any thoughts on Maynard’s game today from the game watchers

not disgraced... kicked a good goal and was prominent around the many packs.

Sat near the dugout for a quarter or two and it was almost comical listening to the players trying to run the interchanges without a runner. Lots of name screaming.. it was like old fashioned tag.

PS: just noticed he had 27 possessions but like Lewis' possessions they were not memorably damaging. (Not to say that Lewis did not have a good game but other than once when he took a courageous mark that in the end was called out of bound the possessions were mainly of a link up nature. At one stage I noticed him in at a centre bounce which I thought strange.)

Worse... the sausages at the sausage sizzle were burnt.

What's wrong with that?  If you're gonna stick a sausage on the Barbie, you gotta expect a little coating of carbon!  Good for what ailes ya!  LOL

Weid (past weeks)  and Oscar get dropped from the seniors then all of a sudden they ended up being injured. Is there no end to the B.S that goes around the MFC.

Got nothing on the BS that goes around Demonland.

Weideman got injured in the Casey game, was reported at the time. Oscar was injured at the end of the GWS game, also reported at the time, even though he played the following week. He also had hip operations in the off-season, so perhaps a combination of those factors.

Remember ENYAW?  Changed his name to "junk" which is a strong correlation between username and content.

Hope he plays on the seniors to see what he can do otherwise it was pretty pointless picking him up.

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
