Pink Lady Game - have we ever won one of these?

I note that it's the Pink lady breast cancer awareness game again this week. Wonderful cause and not trying to denigrate the occasion, but has Melbourne ever won one of these games?

I know we were close against the bulldogs in 2010 when the umpires wearing pink socks probably cost us the game and a couple of other times, but I don't remember us ever winning any of these matches? Just wondering if anyone can confirm if we have?

    Do we care spud? I know it is a good cause but with all the "cause rounds"  the AFL inflict on us I take very little notice now. There are so many they are all just a blur.

    Actually ...the ONLY thing of value , to me, about this game is the cause. ( Some here will understand that )

    Haha,

    I agree every week there is a "cause" game. Save the Bilby can't be too far away and if Tassie get a side, it will be "Devil appreciation week" every week with the exception of "remember the tiger round"!

    I was more curious as we don't like to play in Pink (could argue we don't like playing much in red & blue either I guess!).

    It was one of the original cause games so I do think it has a bit more meaning than most and knowing a number of BC survivors who attend it clearly has meaning for them and their family and friends. The country game on Sunday however (even though I lived in the country for the past 16 years) is proof of the never ending cause game!

    Is it the Pink Lady Round? I didn't even know. Lack of promotion this year it seems to me. I always enjoy the Pink Lady Match. It is for a good cause.

    Good memory.

    Yes we certainly did win that round 7 game to go 5-2 and on our way to second on the ladder after round 12. Then in typical MFC style we fell off the rails after that.

    And that's our fault. I recall reading somewhere that when Peter Jackson came to the club he couldn't believe that we'd not made more of this opportunity. It has the possibility of being turned into a blockbuster event but we've somehow let it slip.

    To make it a "blockbuster" game, we need to promote it more, get another club involved who we play every year to provide a sense of occasion and eventually tradition (I'd choose the Bulldogs), involve our AFLW team in some fashion and persist with the "pink ladies" walking onto the ground as it get people involved, raises money and awareness and gives the event a "purpose".  It should also be a night game as it would make the pink ladies walking onto the ground more theatrical. In addition, we should make use of of our Number 1 female ticketholder (do we have one? If not, we should) as the face/voice of the round. It can't be that hard to be creative and make it into an event game which draws at least 60,000 people to the MCG every year, irrespective of the positions on the ladder of the competing teams.

    Just another failure in a long line of MFC dithering. Perhaps the Dogs could do it from their new $150 mill home LDC?

    Sadly, this game has been considerably watered down.  Not only is it not at night it is not an FTA time slot, so very little exposure for the cause.

    Also, the 'pink ladies and men' won't be walking onto the MCG so there is no pre-game recognition of the cause.  I have been on the MCG for this cause and it was a moving and surreal experience.  It was at night and the lights went down and quite emotional. 

    Very sad that someone at the club isn't investing time in this.

    Testing the memory now praha, all I remember was running away with the game late in front of a very good crowd that night.

    I do remember Godfrey kicking a beauty on his right foot Punt Rd end against the Pies around those years.

    Godfrey did kick a goal, so it may have been the goal you refer to Praha. Led by 2 points at 3/4 time and won by 24 so spot on DZ! Adelaide from memory finished on top in 2005?

      Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

      The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day.
