May and Petty to come in for OMc and Frost.

I'd like Keilty to come in, to chopout Maxy, and can play fore and aft...  or from the pine.   Not sure who would be the out for Keilty ?

Kolodjashnij  must come in he is a good user and we desperately need that. There is 3 must ins and 2 possible ins in J.Smith and Preuss.

KK will likely need some time in the 2s to build match fitness...

J.Smith is out for 6 weeks.

I agree with KK in if he gets through tomorrow ok, although Dr D said he doesn't go hard at the pill.....(he must know more than us) KK's run & carry or anyone's run & carry will be helpful.....

J Smith out for 4 to 6 weeks so can't come in & Vanders I think will be another couple of weeks with stress relation ankle issues, I would think.

If Viney not fit then rest him (looked sore).....if Jones, who's obviously lacking fitness & looking after himself, 3 contested poss & 1 tackle, (he's our captain right?), back to Casey. CP needs a rev!

Give the young fella's another go & maybe some of our so called stars need a kick in the [censored]......oh also, Goodwin out coached  - we looked slow & unfit.

My bad. Sack Misson. Play Petracca at CHF AND TELL HIM TO RUN YOU LAZY BASTARD.. I'd like to see Jordon play another good user of the ball that we desperately lack. Hunt to be used forward his ball use isn't good enough to play half back.

We definitely have a problem with our fitness and KK probably won't help with that, but I'm willing to roll the dice and bring in good ball users. Our ball use is diabolical .Surely Jones, Viney and Gawn won't all have shockers on the same day again?

Didn’t stick a single tackle all game. As you said, can’t fault his endeavour, but we have to do better than that.

Also can't kick over a jam tin. Have a look at the guy for Doggies tonight. Just as small and runs in right spots and normally delivers by foot and hand to his own team mates. Understand he has been in for a few years but Spargo now is in 2nd year after nearly playing all last year and I see nothing in him that gives me any confidence. Hope I'm wrong .

Drop the Weid he needs to find form in the VFL. Time to play Petty he looked good in his limited time in the JLT.

well it certainly has been a dramatic fall from grace for the Weed .Last week he was a better key forward then Jesse and this week it is off to the VFL.Still seems our best bet at FF but dont expect another Hogan.

Not sure on KK needing 2 weeks in two's. We played 3 blokes today who didn't play a praccy game in one's at all and only Milkshake gave something. Jones and Viney, both Captains played NOT as Captains. KK will at least provide some run and delivery.

Upping it to one more out in the hope that KK and Preuss both come up trumps tomorrow in the magoos

IN: May, KK, Preuss
OUT: Frost, ANB, C Wagner

B: Jetta - May - Hore
HB: Hunt - O Mac - Hibberd
? Salem - Brayshaw - Jones
HF: Petracca - T Mac - Viney
F: Preuss - Weideman - Melksham
Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Harmes
I/c: Spargo - KK - Fritsch - Sparrow
Emerg: Stretch - Petty - ANB - Keilty

Unfortunately, Hunt has to be retained as he’s one of very few players we have with pace

Same for Spargo - he’s a midget but at least he competes for the footy, unlike ANB, who has looked terrible all year

Sparrow was good and holds his place

Viney and Jones looked way underdone, as did Jones - if a player can’t run out three quarters, let alone four, DON’T PLAY EM!

Did you see the Weid actually put in today. He was lethargic and basically didn't chase, tackle or give any effort out there today. Trust it was a bad one, put it away and play consistently like the game against Cats in Semi

I hope not Werridee.....

Other younger players get crucified for turnovers & yet our skipper does time & time again & it kills us! Today was probably one of his worse games I can remember & whilst he has been a soldier for us over many years, he needs to gain much needed fitness & form. This will represent great leadership.

We need JV & hope he can stay fit.....Gawny will respond!

A bit harsh on Wagner he's been better than Spargo.

Not overly impressed with Oscar and Hore getting a game they are useless. I would have to say any of those 3 in Frost, Oscar and Hore play we lose it at the selection table.

I'd keep ANB for 1 more week he was good last year hasn't found his feet this year but I'm willing to give him 1 more week.

Happy with the ins although I find it hard to see both Preuss and Weid producing in the same team.

Hore and Oscar need to go before ANB and Wagner, Petty should be in too.

I don’t know Werridee, is there such a position anymore? A few times today I saw T Mac and Weid lead up to the middle/half back for marks. When we won the ball off the pack we would go forward quick and suddenly realise we had no one to kick to especially in the last quarter. Imo, I’d have Trac deep and isolated as much as possible.

With no evidence or inside knowledge but 10 years of solid observation jones was jabbed left, right and centre to get on the field today. His coordination suffered.

Doubtful he has the same injury as he had before it's a couple of weeks minimum.

I don't know if hes fit,  has he trained the past couple of weeks, since the, what, groin ?

I'd like to see KK after a run with Casey.  And I'd prefer to blood KK into the team, when we have some good form.  So we don't throw him in the deep end, new club 'n' all.

May is an obvious in. I'd like Petty in as well...  together with Lewis, to General our defense, and knit it together.  Our back-line atmo, is in transition... as is the team, with the rule changes.  We need Lewis's experienced mind, at times like this.

Petty might be ready, surely as ready as Omc is.  Frosts upside is better than OMC's... when we have May in the side.   May makes OMc expendable.

Nope.  'TBA'... not  'TBC' .

Joel Smith (groin) – TBA *   To be announced.
Aaron vandenBerg (foot) – TBA *...    2 weeks to unload him,  then,  IF he settles down,  another 2 weeks or more to reload him,  before he plays a limited time game at Casey ... count it as 6 weeks.

So Jones and Viney are both unfit and missed most of the pre-season, but Jack gets a rest and Jones has to slog it at Casey. Right. Ok.

Not sure where or how they would fit him into the side, but if Keilty has a good game in tomorrow’s VFL practice match I’d could see him come in for a chop out for Max.

Fingers crossed boys.

Also I’ll be at the game tomorrow and will put a write up of how the AFL listed boys play

Id play him down back to replace Oscar. Surely he can't be any worse??

I’d like to think but there’s no way he’s playing down back with May and others to come in, he will have to find a spot as a FWD/Ruck

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
