So the skills overall aren’t up to the men’s game but check out the vid below and tell me how many of the blokes would have kicked that goal Zanker did or would taken that mark in front of the pack and calmly slot the winning goal like Cunningham did.

But most of all check out the unadulterated joy and passion for the victory at the end of the game. Leaves the blokes for dead.

I am so disappointed about yesterday's game that I can't even get upset about the conference system any more.

Simply put we blue it yesterday!  Kicked ourselves out of the finals in the first quarter.  Sure they had the run of the umps all day but more accuracy for goal (1.5 to their 0.0) in the first quarter should have shut the door on them before they could get a look in.  We played brilliantly in the first quarter and they didn't even manage a rushed behind!

Not sure what happened after qtr time but we didn't seem to know we were playing for a finals spot ie %age, not just a win.  This lack of awareness showed in the post match celebrations of the win.  Sure a win was nice but nothing to celebrate under the circumstances.  I bet if Daisy was there she would have worn the greatest scowl on the siren, that a great opportunity went begging.

For the 3rd year in a row we will probably miss finals by %age and it is entirely our fault.

Probably 4 point losses to north and Freo will do it, not %

Not possible as they play each other next week!  They both have 20pts.  Next weeek one will have 24 pts, the other 20pts (or 22 each if they draw).  Crows now on 20 pts.  We are on 16pts.

Next week we play the Crows (184.3% and Dees 148.1%).  Imagine how much better our chances of getting over them Crows if we had beaten Bulldogs by a few more goals yesterday ie a bigger %.

On my reckoning we need to win next week by 5 or 6 goals. Doable but a herculean task.   Crows will defend, defend, defend - they know they don't need to win next week, they only need to keep their % above ours.

So, yesterday was all about %'age!!

So % was absolutely critical yesterday.

i think he meant the two losses by the dees earlier on

Maybe, but they are ancient history.  Had we won by a bigger margin yesterday we could have overcome the impact of those two losses and still make finals.

Yeah, it was not lose to those 2 teams. That's when we blew It, not yesterday

I didn't realise it was on TV.   The CH7 advertising is poor for AFLW imo.

I saw the last 5 mins or so.   Number 10 & 22 helped us get the ball back forward again, and tall No1 did the job.   We have some speed in the side.

DV8 It's on the AFLW part of the AFL website.

Two of the Sat games one twilight or arvo and the other the night game have bee on all season on Ch 7 but lately off 7 to mate or other station.

Club also give details in the mid week prior to the next round should be there also.

On Free to Air next Sat vs Crows.BTW.

I wasn't looking for the game in particular 58. I stumbled on it as I looked to see what was on.

Ch7 had been advertising the aflw,  but it doesn't stand out RE our club,  and when We play.   It's a generic styled advertising of womens footy... and time slots aren't so prominent, to me at least, to take note.

The AFL ask the footy rights holder for advertising, for the footy market.  I think ch7 are doing a weak job of it.

Sorry DV8 but I am getting the impression that you need a private secretary to update your calendar of viewing.

I have Fox snd of course  no such problems exist, but I live in Brisbane and Mate is the Bible on Footy for 7.

Plus recording is also part of my viewing if I can't see live.

I do frequent the Lions games as a Gabba Trust member when not in Melb where I can use recipricol rights to enjoy the Dees in main games at the G. (Sorry that means I have access to the players and see them run out and say goodbye after wins!)

It is going to be harder than ever to get players to acknowledge our fans and importantly the kids if the crowds on the Northern side increase as our membership rises. Peter Jackson has trumpeted that the whole Northern side of the ground should be full of Demons fans (40,000 plus) to give us an edge at the G.

I do have a MFC Members ticket with GFG which  a friend uses and actually stands up in the outer over near you and claim my rights for finals tickets etc.

Good luck in your aims I would love to see the Dees also take over the Outer!

26 point win?

more heartbreak for the Dees coming up. It’s their own fault for losing the close games early in the season though. We have the best squad I reckon

Training this week should consist of a couple of laps followed by non-stop goal kicking practice.

Despite those epic highlights from Cunningham and Zanker, plus O'Dea's efforts to drag us over the line, that was probably our worst result of the season. Too many players giving away unnecessary free kicks and we were diabolical in front of goal in the first.

Interestingly, we lead the competition in contested marks and are 2nd in marks inside 50, probably mostly due to Cunningham's Inspector Gadget arms. Adelaide have kicked 48 goals 43 behinds to be 2nd in goal kicking accuracy compares to our 38 goals 43 behinds and 4th. And that's the difference.

So... we'll need a miracle at Casey this Saturday but I hope at least they go out swinging. The conference system has obviously done us no favours, but close losses and failure to add % when we had the chance have cost us yet again. That wind-affected game against the Pies is the other one we could have capitalised on better despite the conditions.

It's also probably worth acknowledging that we've been very lucky with injuries overall compared to some other teams and have had a very settled team from week to week, which is especially beneficial in the short season. So while we've had some bad luck (robbed by the umps against the Roos), we've certainly had a good run of luck in other ways, and like Lucifer says, only have ourselves to blame for the lapses that cost us against Freo and the Dogs.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
