Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I think Frost and Oscar were (and are) both bad and limited footballers. Oscar is more talented and a nice kick who doesn't turn the ball over, but he still has no physical presence and doesn't kill the contest. Both the Balta and Higgins goals on the goal line came after Oscar failed to kill contested situations. He's indecisive, slow and hesitant to commit his body. Frost will have a few clangers but if he's put in the right positions - ie. playing from behind on a  lead up forward (ie. Jeremy Cameron, Tex Walker and others last year) he'll make them earn it.

It mostly comes down to how they want to use May and how the other defenders will work around him.

I get the feeling it will be May at CHB and Oscar at full back to start with and we'll try to dictate with pressure up the ground to stop quick ball exposing Oscar and provide May a chance to intercept and control the half back line. Sounds good in theory but if May blows up chasing around a decoy and Oscar gets exploited deep then I can see the argument for May to stay deep and Frost to come in at CHB.

yep, I agree with all of that.

Agreed.

I think Frosty might get squeezed out.

I love his attack on the ball.  He has pace and can compete in the air and on the ground.

He breaks lines and is unpredictable.  But as we all know that is also the risk.

But if we can keep our key defenders on the park, I don't see a spot for Frosty, although I prefer him to Oscar but Oscar is a better fit at FB.

Was impressed with Petty.  He was so far off the pace in his senior match against StKilda last year that I was concerned for the effect that it could have on his confidence and development.  Yesterday against some very good players, he showed some very promising signs.  Not quite ready yet, but we may see hi during the year.

Keilty's atleticism (mainly his leap) is quite extraordinary.  If he gets a run next weekend, I'd like to see him have a run at the third tall position down back.

As far as I can see, we don't have a lock for the Lever 3rd tall position.  I'd say at this stage it's out of Frost, Petty, Keilty, Hore and Smith (though the club seems to be wanting Smith to develop into a forward).

I'm a big Preuss fan and have been keen to play two rucks (Gawn simply cannot do it all) however Keilty was a pleasant surprise in this position and will certainly create extra pressure for this position. if he can be a good forward option as well.

Yet to see enough from Preuss that suggests he will ever be much more than a lumbering man mountain. Does not seem to have a great understanding of the game, how to position himself or time leaping in ruck and most concerning seems to have a limited tank so can't get around the ground as is required in the modern game - in short, can't see him playing much time at all in the 1's

Agree that Petty seems more mature and is certainly a good prospect long term, Keilty also some encouraging signs, would have liked to see him more as a forward 50 option

My main concern from this game was the performance of T Mac he looked cooked from the first 5 minutes

Keilty could be another good backup option for Weid.  Tim Smith was also pretty good in the game against the Pies and plays his role pretty well.

I’d like to see Petty play again this week. Looked  a lot more composed than Frost down back. With May coming in I’d give Frost a rest, O Mac is cleaner by foot coming out of defence.

Keilty didn’t look out of place yesterday either, I thought he competed well and was surprised by his vertical leap.

Gawn comes back in this week. so Preuss has to play 2nd ruck forward, to see how that setup shapes... which leaves Keilty out.

May comes in, so I think OMc has first dibs over Frost... but I would be disappointed If I was Frost,  if he misses out to OMc.  ( I wouldn't mind Frost in defence, If/When  May & Lever are together in the side )... ( However I think Hore might get in, in that scenario ) ?

Keilty hopefully battling against Joel Smith for the 3rd tall forward role.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
