Sorry Barrie, just cant feel this way. QB and finals areย all that counts for me.ย

I hope they play some of the kids and fringe players.

I guess, we have the confidence to know that they will not play anyone on the injury or rehab list, which is quite a number of our better players.

As someone else said on another thread, I just hate practice games. A meaningless game with the heightened risk of injury.ย  Hard grounds and players a little soft.ย ย

Very true; practice games like this one, four weeks out fromย Round 1 are fraught with some peril and risk of injury. I'd rather belt the Filth during the season, and QB is ideal. The finals would be even better if we were to [censored] them clean(ly). I hope a Casey-based team is selected for this practice match for so many reasons ...ย

....and Umpires 2 3 13 just to make it chummy

I imagine this is intended mostly as a 'live' feel-through of the new rules with active AFL umpiring and opposition. If so, seems odd that we've hooked up with Collingwood for such an exercise - possibly our closest competitor for the season ahead.

I know that both teams will be aware of each other's general game-plans and tactics soon enough once the season proper is underway, but why give away any unnecessary insights in the early planning stages?

To gain insights. And I doubt that Goodwin and Buckley will be looking to out-fox each other, so it suggests an incredibly co-operative and mature approach from both teams. It also shows the confidence our football department.

IMO both clubs have decided that there is value in playing a team both at their level, and not requiring any significant travel.

Perfect match praccieย opportunity if you ask me,

I think the proximity to eachother's bases is the likeliest explanation.

I think you need to go back to internet media baron school.

Possible team

B: JETTA, FROST, HORE

HB: SALEM, O.MCDONALD, HIBBERD

C : FRITSCH, HARMES, C.WAGNER

HF: PETRACCA, J.SMITH, NEAL-BULLEN

F: GARLETT, WEIDEMAN, GAWN

FOLL: PREUSS, MAYNARD, SPARROW

IC: LEWIS, VANDENBERG, HUNT, SPARGO

Canโ€™t see any upside of playing Lewis! Rather see KK or Stretch have a run.

He landed awkwardly after attempting a mark, yes no MFC training so I'm next door having a squiz

They still seem to move the ball down the wings, very loathe to bring it in the corridor

@Satyriconhome going deep into enemy territory this week.

Any other observations from the filth?

Elliott is back, looks really sharp

Playing Reid as a forward

Moore as a key defender

Cox still taking a difficult mark and dropping the easy

Maynard one of the standouts, looks a betterย player again from last year

Sidebottom being Sidebottom

Beames has done whole session

Whole session has neen a practice game

Way back at the start of preseason I dropped by after watching ourย boys train and they were doing match sim with tackling, looked serious high intensity meanwhile we were doing running and light skills.

Nathan Jones basically played down this up-coming match Vs Collingwoodย as a glorified training session.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's no scoring.

What are you inferring here?

Seeing all the injuries around the league id actually be happy if this was kept to a bare minimum. Maybe 2 x 20 minute halves. Especially if the Pies ground is still rock hard.ย

Teams that are super keen on match simulation just sound like coaches who canโ€™t create drills that replicate in game scenarios.ย

Thankย heavens that I hit an improved score off the back nine, this morning. It negated the tears and the incredibly hurtful overnight distress that I had read on DL yesterday - about poor old De Goey (from the Filth) and his significant injury. Interestingly, across the past 5 hours since arriving home, not one shred of disappointment returned.ย

"Maynard on Maynard"....bring it on,ย and "Balls on Cox".....whatever...
