  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Glad someone mentioned that.

Hawkins is a dog when jumping from behind. Has been for years.

Well we've been getting used to political correctness at the Dees, for the past 50 Yrs, and I still haven't got used to the feeling of losing... whilst we fly the johnny be good flag.

It's not cheating if your not charged with anything, Mnd.

So the rest of the competition tries to bend the rules all the way, before they are broken, and to get away with things...  whilst you continue to NOT cheat in some politically correct fantasy of your own making....  but what is that exactly???   when other clubs are taking ALL their opportunities... and the flags.

Do you pay all the tax you should...  or do you bend the rules,  just a bit, MnD ?

I bet you do not answer...  just come out to throw shyte, and hide.

DV8 curious!

It is cheating when one cheats.

Lance Armstrong was cheating before he got caught, getting caught simply proved it. I follow cricket and I was disgusted with sandpaper gate.

Lost your bet, I answered. Sorry about not throwing shyte earlier, I had work.

Anyhoo..back to training, I’m on the red-eye tonight to Melbourne, depending on how my morning pans out I’m going to try to swing by for a look. I’ve pressed my chaps just in case.

Great.  My Brother will be there.  Slightly portly, thinning dark/greying hair, 5'9'', in a suit with no tie.

Be sure to say hello. ?

Deep down in our clubs psyche... I think we are all tFearful for poor old Essendrug.

And of the Hawks except that the Hawks are a different club, these days.

the Roos to a lesser extent, and this fear grew out of trying to be a 'prim and proper'. politically correct club...  This stemmed from Northern stand attitudes.

And at the same era's, did our inability to develop our kids... and to maintain the rugged Footy Club culture.

# Exhibit A... of what happens to our clubs footy culture, and the growth of bruise free footy.  This is why  'bruise free'  continues to creep back in... after we have exorcised it from within.

This is how it regrows...  this  'non contact type philosophy'  does not fit with the rest of   the AFL Footy Competition... and belongs on a soccer field,  where  hard tackling and physically hard contact are frowned upon.

This is how our Footy Clubs Culture, continually gets pulled down and torn apart from within,  by politically correct others.

.

Wow. The culture wars have now pervaded Demonland. Let's leave that to the silly politicians in Canberra, shall we?

Bollocks. On the logic (or rather, illogicality) of that post, Donald McKay wasn't murdered because nobody was ever charged with that crime.

What if Bruiser turns out to be a player, not a thug. We should not expect him to be the "pack crasher" just because he is bigger than most. My memory of the 50s and 60s is of a skillful, talented team and we won games for that reason and no other.

I would prefer him to take marks or create crumbing opportunities and forget about all these other issues.

Rather than being a 'pack crusher', I would like him to take those grabs that lead to scores and related crumbing pathways for his teammates. However, certain players can achieve a 'right of passage' in tight situations if they possess that mongrel factor - almost being too confronting to be regularly tackled or intercepted in the 'course of his game of football'. He has attributes that may (no pun intended) reduce the likelihood of that gross interference from opposition players that the Dees' forwards have experienced in recent years - such as holding and double-teaming with physical restraint - as occurred with Hoges, a younger Weed and each week, Melksham. Forget the BS from disgruntled NthMelb supporters, the big fella is not slow; instead, he is agile, mobile and virile. He also takes a good grab of the ball and is near-impossible to bump out of the way at the fall of the ball which he reads really well. Lotsa promise for us....

In a sense, yes... the body has so far not been found, so we do not know.  He may have died accidentally through aggression ? and still body removed and disposed of... we just don't know.

But we can speculate and make assumptions, can't we.   My take is, he has been murdered... but truth is I don't know.

I do know I'm angry about his circumstances.

Truth is in footy, what gets past is not illegal. as it has been let go through.

.

So, those who want to play a different game to the other clubs...  then I wish those who do, would find another club to put up on a pedestal...  and let us get on with winning Footy matches... and Flags.  and leave our boys alone.

Essential stuff, Mr Vagg, well nailed. That is going to be his big asset, at FFwd and then, back-up to Maxxy. The Weed can ruck on the fwd line, as can Gawny. Rotation, rotation: Gawn, Weed, Preusse/

I like the idea of Gawn rucking in the foward line as much as possible.  The connection he has with our onballers results in such clean clearances which often result in goals in the forward half of the ground.  If Preuss can develop this part of his game per his much stated desire to learn from Max, then all the better.

As others have stated, having another tall option (Max or Preuss) should also benifit Weid and T Mac.  I just hope that we can adjust and settle Preuss into the side quickly without impacting on early season team form and results like somewhat occurred with Lever.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
