Probably winding down if not already finished. The club does not list the Wednesday sessions as they are officially closed sessions on an open field. I get that the team need closed sessions to work on "plays/drils" and keep these away from prying eyes or reports on Demonland and other platforms that then can be seen by prying eyes. It would be great to have a closed off venue that could facilitate this.

Maybe we should borrow Punt Road a few times midweek? After all, we have allowed Richmond to play their home matches on our ground (the MCG) for decades!

Does anybody know the reason why we left the MCG, and why we can't get to even train there any more?

Check out the C part of the MCG name, heavy use during the season would prevent us using it then,

I love the fact that there is so much competition for spots, that you have to start now and go hard to get a spot in the team.  We have competition at all lines in the squad now (although Gawn is a cert for 1st Ruck).  Great environment to take it to the next level.  Lets see what we do with the new rules (666).  Thanks to all for the training reports and pics!

With only two pre season games and the VFL season starting 3 weeks after the AFL round 1, "training form" takes on another level compared to past years for the players ranked between say best 14 and 30.

I asked for further clarification on Gus' state last week as "sick" didn't sit with me, especially as he was at training, and was actually doing some form of exercise.  @brendan @TeamPlayedFine39 any latest news that's not from the Herald Sun?

My doubts were that if he was actually sick (ie cold, gastro, etc), he'd be better off spending a couple of days away from the club, and definitely with his feet up.  He's been rehabbing for well over a week now, so my suspicions are growing.

I don’t have any inside word just rely on media and demonland for info

Just going off photo's but Hibberd seems in ripping shape. He hasn't had much of a preseason since he joined us so I'm expecting huge things from him if he gets the bulk of the summer in.

....and doesn't have any interruptions

Officially it's a "Closed" session today but if anyone is attending training we'd appreciate an unofficial report.

Thanks in advance.

Could be just about our toughest front row group photo

No Clarry, Viney, Jetta, Brayshaw or VandenBerg. Sorry, but doesn't even come close.

If he was/is sick, it's possible that the condition isn't contagious. Just sayin...

Just did everything to an excellent level, got praised out loud by coaches at least 4 times

Him and Weid seemed to have done a heap of extra work, think he was paired with Weid for a reason, like Billy Stretch, Weid is fastidious with his preparation

I forgot to mention this after attending on Monday but I've been told during the exit interviews this year the players had to nominate their best trainer/preparer (is that a word) and a not so good trainer/preparer. Some of these were then "paired up" during the off season as a "learning" opportunity. Saty, have you heard about this?

Just for clarification are you saying that the players have been allegedly paired up with the trainers/preparers that they nominated as "not so good"?

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
