i can't recall, do we have our first round draft pick for 2019 still? pretty sure we do, as i think we have to use it right?

We still have our 2019 pick and need to use it I believe based on that 4 year cycle rule. It will be good to get some elite young talent in again next year. Taylor and co landed Clarry and Weid last time they had first round picks!

Our first round pick will probably be pick 18 in 2019, I don't see us getting another top 10 pick for a while 'Lord'...let alone 2.

I am personally much more interested in the list of free agents next year. We shouldn't have an early first-round draft pick unless one or more of our better players is traded, and I can't see that happening tbh.

We must start to lure some top-shelf free agents while we are in the window. That's if any are available ofc.

Hopefully though at the end of next season, if things go our way, we wont care very much.

Looking at the top ten is pretty pointless unless we swap with the Blues or the Suns!

So it looks like Kobe Farmer can't  be selected till next year at the earliest.

Not sure if Kobe Farmer is rated as highly as what we thought he did.

An Australian Under 18 squad played the Casey Demons at the MCG in an exhibition game.

Casey went full bore in the first half and led by four goals at the main break with 10 AFL listed players but took most of them off for the second half and the Aussie team took over and won by about four goals. Best for the Australian team we’re Oakleigh Chargers pair Matt Rowell and Noah Anderson.

AUSTRALIA UNDER 18 SQUAD

Lachlan Ash (Murray Bushrangers)
Noah Anderson (Oakleigh Chargers)
Trent Bianco (Oakleigh Chargers)
Connor Budarick (Gold Coast Academy)
Nick Bryan (Oakleigh Chargers)
Liam Delahunty (GWS Giants Academy)
Sam Flanders (Gippsland Power)
Will Gould (Glenelg)
Thomas Green (GWS Giants Academy)
Luke Jackson (East Fremantle)
Emerson Jeka (Western Jets)
Brodie Kemp (Bendigo Pioneers)
Fischer McAsey (Sandringham Dragons)
Jack Mahony (Sandringham Dragons)
Will Martyn (Brisbane Lions Academy)
Jackson Mead (Woodville-West Torrens)
Mitch O’Neill (Tasmania Devils)
Kysaiah Pickett (Woodville-West Torrens)
Malcolm Rosas jnr (Northern Territory)
Matthew Rowell (Oakleigh Chargers)
Caleb Serong (Gippsland Power)
Jeremy Sharp (East Fremantle)
Cooper Stephens (Geelong Falcons) *
Dylan Williams (Oakleigh Chargers)
Joshua Worrell (Sandringham Dragons)
Hayden Young (Dandenong Stingrays)

* injured and did not play

Some good players in that lot, oddly enough.  I only watched a little bit of the game, but there were a couple of very hard at it mids with pace and skill running around out there.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.
