Gee I had a soft spot for that bloke when he played for us. You never knew what he was going to do next or where he was going to kick or handball but he was exciting at times. He ended his career unfortunately playing mostly for the Zebras.

Anyhow, there's a poll on www.dockerland.com to decide who is/was Fremantle's best Aboriginal footballer.

I'm the first to vote for Scott but if everyone here follows suit we could help cause an upset in the voting.

Warning: The Wizard is also in the poll but I like Scott who was good in the Dockers' early years.

It's funny, because I definitely didn't have a soft spot for the guy - for much the same reasons as you've cited for liking him.

Anyhow, good luck with rigging the poll - I added my vote :P

Hehe yeah im with Pinball. I certainly didn't have a thing for Scotty Chisholm. My mates and I always joke about Scotty Chisholm and Jamie Shanahan being the worst players to pull on a melbourne jumper. Shanahan made Al Nicholson look like Silvagni and Scotty Chisholm was great for the grand final sprint, thats it.

i too did have a soft spot for chisholm and thought he was handy in 1999 thats about it really. bloody quick runner!!

You are joking aren't you? I thought Shanahan was a good player for the Dees and no one could make Big Al look like Silvagni.

One would hope so Redleg. I agree with your position.

I dont hold a soft spot for Chisholm. He was reckless and careless with the ball and provided MFC with little upside

I totally agree with u rhino, he played some very dangerous risky footy in his time with us. If he didnt he would have been great

All the more reason for us to vote for him as our favourite Fremantle aboriginal player over at Dockerland. I'm voting now.

[Edit: darn, he's well behind with only 3.1% of the vote]

Like you, Pinball, I liked Scottie Chisholm. On more than one occasion I confidently predicted a great future for him at Melbourne.

I was wrong.

His pace off the mark was unbelievable. His ball skills were mercurial. Perhaps he was a non-compliant trainer.

Does anyone know?

Trouble with Scott is that he got into the habit of not taking the first option.

He would get the ball then instead of doing the obvious thing ie quick kick or handball he would try & take on the opposition then if he beat his man he would look around & try & try & take on another man invariabaly he would just get tackled or turn the ball over.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
