Those keen on Aaron Hall should play close attention to where his kicks finish up. More often than not it's either straight to the opposition or OOF. That and his age and flakiness gets a big no from me.

Also - Armitage - No FFS, Miles - No unless we want to pick up someone for Casey.

Be a little wary of those.  It is surprising re Cotchin I'll admit but really need to strip out some of the dinky short 1/2 handballs that add to the overall efficiency rating.

Any chance of stripping out this season's kicking efficiency stats on those players DV and putting those up also?

Kieran Collins from the Bulldogs may be worth a look as a cheap pick-up at the end of the year.  He got a one year extension last year, but may be cut or traded at the end of 2018.

Three years in and form and injuries have kept him to just the one game, but was excellent as a KPD at Under 18 and is a big bodied defender.  Still only 20 years old.

big and slow - not made for modern football

the new netball rules coming in next year may help the likes of him, but you don't need 'gorilla defenders' in modern footy with the way zoning defence works...or in our case, doesn't

He’d be cheap and a risk (and a ‘realistic target’.). FWIW, I believe there is a place for all shapes and sizes on a modern football field and a ‘gorilla’ would have been pretty handy at Kardinia Park last weekend.

well petty's debut didnt instill me with a lot of confidence, and oscar mcdonald is still someone who needs 15 men to support him so we should be moving heaven and earth to get a key defender.

I seem to remember Frawley having bags kicked on him when our forwards and midfield applied little or no defensive pressure.Regardless if you using a zone defense or man on man, the back 6 players will always be in trouble if the rest don't do their bit.

Just finished watching The Toiges and the other mob. Nearly 3/4 of the Toiges are " irrecognisables". Yet they play really well as a team. This reinforces (to me) that sometimes we are banging our heads and hopes against the wall in thinking throwing the Southern Stand for someone to come in and save us. Apart from our Senior citizens every player on our list has an upside 10 % or even 5% improvement in the ability to run both ways AND TO SEE THE NEED FOR IT would mean we would need a massive amount of flag poles to put all the flags. Look at the improvement of Harmes, ANB, Fritsch (1st yr),Spargo .JKH,SMith and Smith  The upside of Hunt Stretch, Pretty,Baker, Balic,Hannan, Weidemann,McKenna  and others unknown .

The nucleus of our list is top quality. We just need the link men .

Most important recruit would be a running coach or Strength & Cond person . Less money than a player and we keep our keepers, not shove themout the door because of Salary cap pressures.

We have someone in form,,, we could have played on him last week... maybe even 2 players could have.  TMc and Pedo are both worthy of tackling that lump.

Frost could have moved to the wing.

notice how most of the tigers players can consistently kick to their team mate's advantage to? makes a MASSIVE difference. our players don't seem smart enough to do it?..

FWIW the footy news reporter guy on Triple M this morning said that we were in to Hannebury, but our interest has cooled in last couple of weeks

Short from the Tigers is ooc. No indication he wants to leave but he’d be a good addition and if they’re planning to sign tom Lynch he may get squeezed out.

Is he really?  is he that slow?  Whats his endurance like?

Remember we need someone as a backup, in-case we lose some insiders to injury in 2019.

I'm not interested in Tyson, he just doesn't use the footy anywhere near well enough, that I've seen...  Time to shuffle the deck and discard.

Without Lew & Tyson,,, we can carry a slow player as an in-under.  We just can't carry 4 slow on-ball'rs..

- - - - - --

I'm still in the Pro Pedo corner for 2019,,, for similar reasons.   I expect Weidman to start to rise next year, but he will most likely still be inconsistent you'd think.

And IF we were to cop a major injury to Hogan or TMc, we would have to rely heavily on Weides.

Pedo gives us insurance for the Ruck, Defence, and Forwardline.  Good value I think, for the cost of one season salary.

Lewis will play next year.

Agmitage is finished. If he can’t get a game at St Kilda, he would be about 15th in line for a midfield spot.

I am confident Andy Gaff will be a Dee!

We should definitely chase an assistant coach namely ‘Blake Caracella’... Getting Blake would go along way in undoing Richmond and taking us to another level.

other players... Steven May, Darcy Moore.

I think you might be right D11. Lewis was great the other night.

It'll be interesting to see how he goes in Finals this year.   If he raises to the occasion.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
