Settle down mate, they are not taking his leg.

No they’re not. But with a dodgy foot, that leg you refer to can’t do a lot, sadly.

It’s not that serious.

Got to lol at the hindsight armchair experts! The closest they've got to examining Jack's foot is from 50m over the boundary. Yet they tut tut his treatment as if knowing better because of 'personal experience'. Yes, yes, club doctors and physios are amateurs who led him to get to this point! We know better.....

FMD!

Sure. That’s what we were told last preseason.

Don’t post on here much, but didn’t you say Gus Bradshaw should ‘hang up the boots’ after his last concussion?

I may have, one more hit and he would have been in trouble.

True , they’re not . Just saying it’s hard to call time on a players career after a few similar injuries.

I think we should relax and see how long he's out before we start saying poor me.

Goodwin said it's a different injury to last time.

Agreed. I don’t think Viney’s career is over, but it will be managed, he came back too early last year.

That i do believe

Again, are you a doctor/specialist who has examined this person? Apologies if you are, but otherwise this is bs.

I know this site is full of opinions and everyone is entitled to theirs, but making grand sweeping medical statements as fact with very distant and PR massaged knowledge of the individual is ridiculous and clearly wrong

You should work to in the media wyl. Oh, wait.....

Sweeping medical statements??

i have had foot problems since i was a kid, so because of that i have read up a bit on the subject.

Sorry if that bothers you.

As i said before, changing load bearing points on a foot is always going to cause new problems.

Maybe. But it will be game by game management.

Foot problems don’t go away usually, they are managed. That i know from personal experience. Putting loads through different parts of a foot are always going to cause problems even for regular folk, loads on a footy players feet would be off the dial, so i will enjoy each game he plays

I think given previous situation you might well be right, this COULD be career threatening!

Im still convinced that he came back far too early last year and this could be a catasphrophic conclusion to the current situation!

So then you aren't a medico who has examined either Jack or Gus. Righto.

By the way, a poster on the post game thread said Viney estimated to be 3-4 weeks and the club would be cautious. Intel came from inside the club apparently

No i am not a medico, but i did go to a school that had kids who had suffered brain injuries

So i saw the consequences up close

And 3-4 weeks was what the club was saying last October/November, because they can only ever speculate on a load bearing injury

i hope he plays again this year.

I've got a sore knee. Can you tell me what's wrong and how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

He’s seen knees before up close, I’d be wary of his remedy or dreaded prediction.

Spot on. You were just stating the obvious I thought. Credit to Brayshaw for not hanging up the boots - I would have. Its a dangerous game and repeated head knocks are no good at all. Everything I have read on CTE suggests as much.

If he plays four quarters today and at the level of intensity of last week, I would love to see Vanders in for the run home!

Given the way Max was putting it down our on ballers throats yesterday, I'm not sure we will really miss Viney's contested work.

Just pray we don't loose Max.  I think he has been the difference the past two weeks and probably for most of the year.  Sure we have Pedo who I have confidence would step up and perform well, but he ain't no peek condition Max.

The injury to Jack Viney for what looks like several weeks at the pointy end of the season is a definite blow to the club.

Viney to miss round 17 clash

He’s not an easy player to replace.

This has Gary Pert's grubby fingers all over it

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
