The Casey Demons play Williamstown at the Williamstown Football Ground on Sunday 3rd June at 2.00pm.

Williamstown are very similar to Port.Melbourne  both successful non aligned clubs, they currently sit 6th on the ladder.

We should be stronger this week with our emergency being able to play so Weideman, Hunt and Pedersen should be back.

I think the Dees will win a tight one by 18 points.

POSSIBLE TEAM LINE UP

B: Keilty, Frost, Johnstone

HB: Hunt, Petty, J.Smith

C : Kennedy Harris, Stretch, Baker

HF: Balic, Pedersen, Bugg

F: Garlett, Weideman, King

Foll: Filipovic, J.Wagner, Tyson

I/C: C.Wagner, Lockhart, Scott, M. Lewis, Quigley

Melbourne's injury toll is one of the factors that will determine how many AFL-listed players take part in the all-important Casey Demons clash with Williamstown this Sunday. There is the possibility that some players might be rested or managed in light of the 6 day break between games at AFL level. With Sam Weideman likely to return from injury, these leaves only Dean Kent, Corey Maynard, Pat McKenna and Aaron vandenBerg on the list of players definitely unavailable for selection at the weekend.

Werridee stealing your thunder again and stomping all over the great Demonland tradition of KC starting the weekly Casey thread.

WERRIDEE, i know it might be a little presumptuous of me to ask this but might it be possible for you to let KC from Casey start this thread and then perhaps you post you thoughts after that?

There a several  reasons.

One is that i am a routine person and i have well got used to the routine of KC starting this thread (like joeboy doing the three word analysis thread).

Two, it feels more official the thread starting with KC's post as KC sort of speaks for casey.

Three i prefer the format of having the actual selected side and match details pinned to the start of the thread (preferably by KC), rather than who you think might play, which to be honest - and at the risk of being rude - i'm not that interested in.

Thanks for considering

One never considers this  thread officially started until KC has come forward with his opening words.

Off to Russia for the world cup so I will miss this weekend but I can thoroughly recommend a trip to Williamstown. Try to make time for fish and chips on the Esplanade before heading down to the ground.

I see that light winds are forecast for Sunday but a jacket is always handy for those winds off the bay.

Like Port, Willamstown beat Casey last year IIRC so they are certainly no pushover. A strong stand alone club as Werridee has mentioned.

Go Dees.

Sometimes we have to change and move forward. Things are happening that are changing the dynamic at the club - why not Demonland?

I don't have a problem but Werridee could do away with the capitals. ?

KC usually puts it in late. I like to put the side in early around the time the match pre view in the seniors. If he can put it in early then I'm fine with that.

PS Don't care if you're not interested in the best 22 I am.

KC has been doing it for years.  Who are you to dictate that, if he puts it in early, 'you're fine with that'?  That's not your choice to make in my opinion.

And you put a total guess side in that may not reflect the game at all.  It's off putting at best.

Perhaps the strongest VFL team we have fielded for a few years.

If conditions allow it should be a great game.

Casey by 40 points... almost everyone to kick a goal or two!

Wow. Great lineup.  A few there who will be fighting like crazy to get back into the firsts....

Have to feel for a few of the Casey boys.

With all those Melbourne players listed, and Hutchy back in the lineup if he is fit, you'd expect the I/C to be Filipovic, Hutchins, C. Wagner and either the Vice Captain Scott or Lewis who has been playing great footy. Meaning the likes of Lok, Munro and either Scott or Lewis to miss out.

Otherwise that is a very strong lineup which will be needed to beat Williamstown in Williamstown. Should be a great game.

Am I reading rift that only 1 player (Lockhart) named on the ground is not on the melb list? Very strong team.

Correct Drunkn - with 18 MFC listed players in the team, it leaves room for very few Casey lads.

Lockhart is a lock :) and so is 23rd player Quigley. Scott and Corey Wagner have been consistent all year so two of the skipper Hutchins, Munro or Lewis are going to have to miss unless there's a mystery injury of the week around.

Dear agony aunt,

Have gone to as many games as possible this season - couldn't get to the blues or ess games. Lots going on with renovations and other stuff (kids sports mainly).

Would love to go to both the AFL and VFL games this weekend, but if i chose to go to both my next choice would be chemical or surgical - castration.  I live in Altona so would love to see Casey play Willy. I love watching foot there. And marvel stadium leaves me cold. But its joneys's 250th.

What to do?

Please help agony aunt.

(PS it is sign of how well we are going that i would even consider going to a casey game instead of the dees)

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
