Love listening to him talk about the Dees.

He praises eagerly and is measured in criticisms.  And, he is not shy to openly support players.  In that article he talks of Tom Mc and Jesse.  Numerous times, even when both were injured and most on here had doubts, he talked up Salem and Brayshaw, if played in position.  (Both now are and we are seeing the benefits).

I really like that every now and then he lets slip 'we' when talking about one of games.  He genuinely wants to see us do well and is like a proud dad when players or the team perform.

Jonathan Brown  in that article on Tom Mac Donald:

“I’d be surprised if someone offered him more than a million dollars,” Brown said of the soon-to-be restricted free agent.

Certainly hope he's right !! Little wonder the contract renewal is taking a while if those figures are being talked about.

Tom is in a fantastic negotiating position. Could not have worked out better for him.

Playing where he wants to play up forward, playing great footy, playing with his brother, and now having team success after years battling his heart out down back in losing teams.

On top of of it all he is set for a big pay rise.

I thought this was going to be about O Mac and Lever

or Petracca and Brayshaw

or Viney and Oliver

Roosy must have loved seeing us play on the weekend.

If we're ever lucky enough to be standing on that podium on that one day in September and Barrass isn't available to present us with the cup my second choice would be him.

Bloke turned the rabble around.

We need to win 3 flags. One for Barassi. One for Neale. One for Roos. I've got no clue which order they should be in.

Make it 4. Johnny Northey is pretty deserving too.

Thanks Mono, when you think about it:

Lever - Omac

Jetta - Hibberd

Frost - Hunt

Vince - Lewis

Trac - Brayshaw

Oliver - Viney

ANB - Bugg

Melksham - Harmes

Fritsch - Hannan

Garlett - Spargo

Looks like Gawn needs a partner in crime (Pedo/Smith?)

Gets me thinking ?

The head of that list should be none other than Robbie Flower, then daylight. Barassi played in flags, Neale had one of the more successful coaching careers since Norm Smith (up their with Northey). And Roos was on board for only 3 years.

Robbie on the other hand, played the majority of the 70's/80's (14/15 years) without playing in a final. He was the heart and soul of the club in it's darkest period, and was the reason most supporters endured those [censored] years and continued to go to the footy nonetheless. They didn't go to watch a win, they went to watch him play.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
