Think of a number between 1 and 10

Then subtract it from itself ;)

based on salem out and trac not back fit, it's going to be interesting to see what they do at selection; like most i thought anb out for trac, but he's clearly not...and if hogan ain't fit too, hm......

IN: tim smith, wagner
OUT: hogan, salem

jetta - o mac
lewis - hibberd - lever - wagner - hunt
gawn - oliver - jones - tyson - brayshaw - harmes
fritsch - t mac - hannan
weideman - melksham
bench: spargo - vince - anb - t smith

Yet the club has been talking up the likelihood of Tracc's inclusion WW?

jeepers creepers

salem cannot get a clean run

What does a 'çlean run'

have to do with a 'broken thumb'

What more could the club do

Than let Petracca see it through!

Is it true what the scribes and Misson say

That Viney's still 3 weeks away?

....Ok i'll stop there before i embarrass myself further!

You're right - it's definitely a dumb suggestion

Tim Smith must be a big chance surely. 192cm is a good midfielder size and he was  by far best for Casey, laid 12 tackles, got a wrap from the coach. This a great opportunity to try someone new. No one else rated for Casey.

Are you Tim Smiths mum @chook fowler?

Has he been playing midfield?

He can play Hogan's role and Hogan can go closer to the square considering he is injured.

Weed doesn't deserve to be dropped. Leave Gartlett out as the balance seems ok.

I think he spends time in the midfield and forward line but the Casey boys would know better. Whatever we do against the Saints will be makeshift as most of our pure on ballers are sidelined,

Can't play with Hogan, T.Mac, T.Smith and Weide in the same side.

T.Smith is more versatile than Weideman and in better form, so he replaces him.

Garlett replaces Salem but if Petracca is fit he replaces Salem.

OK.  I like it. OKb.  Oker.

Lets hope he gets a go, this week ?

Both forward and was thrown into the middle a couple of weeks back, in a tough game.  He won a few clearances.

I think Werribee.

He may have played inside again since?

Maybe a bit like Hogan's or Petracca's roles.

I think Bull, will prove to be a very valuable Demon, in times ahead of us.

The Weed has to stay in.

If he gets his confidence up and starts to feel more comfortable he will be a massive asset.

The 2 contested marks he took in the last qtr against Essendon is just a glimpse of what he might be capable of.

Thanks for the info.

He did show a bit before he got injured last year but I did think he didn’t look fit enough.

If he has improved his fitness and is moving into the midfield, I think he could be very valuable also..

In saying that I still think he is behind, Hogan, T Mac, Trac, Hannan and Fritsch

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
